Why have a BOV on a non turbo car

I was brought up this question last night by a friend, I have people in my region that have BOV on there none turbo engines, how does the Bov get the back pressure from a non turbo to still make the ptshhhhhhhhhh sound of a turbo with one. Is it good to have one on a non turbo car, does it affect the engine, is it bad. Please help . Any comments are welcome. Just so I can put my friend straight. He drives a little Geo Storm so go easy on him

Well, as long as he filled up the resivour with boost fluid, he should be fine!! Hope that helps...

of course he was joking... it's blinker fluid... not boost fluid...

well while he's at it he should have his muffler bearings replaced so his exhaust flows properly to prevent boost creep.
