ok ive read about the non cruise control cable mod for the 2g but the post dont really say what you get out of it.....is it just for looks or does it improve throttle response? because i have 2 non cruise cables i picked up but i think they are from 1g eclipses not 2g...should i do this mod to my tsi?

I did mine also for reduced clutter. I didn't happen to notice anything with the throttle response, per se, but the gas pedal pressure was a bit firmer to the touch, allowing me to control it better. That may have been simply due to the cable being new. I did find that this was one of the simplest modifications I've ever done to my car, but had one of the most drastic results as far as engine bay appearance. And I no longer cut my hands on the cruise control bracket attached to the strut tower.

ok thank you all i will proceed to do this mod then.....can i use a 1g non cruise control cable then since i have two of them or do i need one from a 2g?

I also got mine from Extremepsi. Very reputable vendor and the part fit perfectly. You can also get them from the dealership, however, I believe they're actually cheaper from Extreme. Don't quote me on that; but maybe check your local dealership if you have time.
