Thank you! I need to do that check on my wifes srt4 as well. You gota force 1, 3, 5 and reverse on her car. Mine however I've only had the issue where its bouncing on disengagment, sqeaky some of the time, and going into reverse feels like the engine is moving faster than it can slip into reverse gear.

Reverse is like that on any setup, that's definitely a "DSM thing." Reverse is a straight cut gear, which is also why it seems to whine when you start backing up faster than 1mph, so you've kind of got to rev match/slip the clutch while trying to GENTLY slip it into reverse. Always make sure the car has come to a complete stop before taking it out of reverse and slamming it up into 1st, that's also a no-no.

Installed the fuel rail spacers. I didnt do the RTV because of the extreme discomfort I felt inside. After finding out my biss screw could turn a wee bit more. I turned it down and the idle is no at a wobbly 900-1000, which is better than before. I also rechecked my sparkplug wire order, and changed my FPS back to the old one I had. Erased my CEL and it fired right up, although the car was still warm from before. I'm gonna let it sit for a few hours then fire it up again before I head out on the final test drive.

I wiggled the clutch form around and it has alittle play up and down, I'll be sure to take a video when there is better light and show you what I'm talking about.

As Corey mentioned, if you have access to an air compressor, doing a PROPER boost leak test will identify any air leaks you have. The testers themselves are easy to make or you can buy one for around $25-$30. You'd be surprised how large of a leak you can have even though a coupler and clamps "look" like they're on nice and tight.

I wish I could find a cheap small compressor to perform a blt :\ maybe craigslist will provide one for this purpose. After that I can build or buy one. Till then I should ask around and see if someone has one.

Living in SoCal it's tough to find an affordable place to rent that includes a garage so, before I was making the big bucks, I had my own BLT'er and I made use of the local gas stations air compressors to perform BLT's. :sneaky:

Instead of tossing money into it walk inside and grab your drink of choice and, while you're paying for it, ask the clerk for the number combination to the air compressor outside. Then you can get unlimited "free" air because you've got the combination to their compressor, just be sure to write it down for future BLT'ing.

:dsm:

The base has a free one!! This changes everything. That's why no one can deny dsmtuners. An outside perspective always shines light in corners you yourself can't see. Time to build a blt.

Yep Army. I decided to just buy one LOL. From where I have yet to decide

I just found my exhaust leak... Started up and rev usingg the throttle cable under the hood. Saw smoke spray and some moisture bubble from the corner of the exhaust mani in the pic. Guess I need a new gasket, maybe changing the studs wouldn't hurt either.

Update:

Found out that the previous owner put this mani back on hastely. That top and bottom end nuts weren't even on hand tight. I went to tighten the top one and it broke in half under no pressure, guess he just stuck it in there. Hope I can find a shop to remove all the old studs and replace em. Might as well upgrade the mani too.

Compression Test Results:

Facing engine bay from front of car. 120, 120, 120, 120, Timing Cover.

You should not have more than 14psi difference between cylinders.
The standard compression is 178psi. The service limit is 133psi. It's definelty time for a leakdown test Leon. Your much better off doing this stuff now then continuing to drive because it's only going to get worse.

Gosh. Identical compression across all four, with all being below the service limit. Where have I seen that sort of thing before?

Where have you seen it before? I would definatly like to know because it would help me figure out wth is going on.

Leakdowntest is next... Need air compressor...

The timing might be it, but considering the timing is dead on I say unlikely, worth a check. I'm not gonna say piston rings because all four sets of rings being exactly worn the same? What are the odds of that

The way I see it; you've done 3 compression tests and posted various results for each. So, what are the odds of it truely being an even 120 across the board?

Have you leakdown tested yet?

I know right? But this time the compression test was done word for word, and all four cylindars were even at 120. No leakdown test yet. I'm in the works of borrowing an aircompressor, but it might not happen, getting one mid next month from craigslist used seems best :\ the numbers could be worse.

I love you, man.

Only you can say "it might be X, but since I know it's not X, I'd say that the odds of it being X are low, but it's still worth checking whether it's X" and mean every word.

edit: actually, the above is unfair, as I once had a girlfriend who could do the same thing; luckily, she's an X

Lol!

Holycrap harborfreight ships? Last time I was in a HF was in texas, drove 160 miles to one and was told they don't ship. They have amazing deals.

Did another compression test. This time I had the car warm up for around 30 minutes. 120s across the block. :\

I had a thought that if it was the timing, wouldn't the psi drop like it did before? Especially if the valves weren't seating correctly
