There might be a few reasons why my car wont start, i have done 2 mods to it since the last time it ran, a walbro 255lph HP fuel pump and a MBC, i just realized that i would need a FPR to control the excessively high fuel pressure, so i got an Aeromotive one on the way, my question is, IF, IF i dont have the screw set properly on the MBC might that hold it up, i dont think boost has a major impact on starting....but i could be wrong, or is it just the fact that i need to install my FPR, also, the FPR doesnt replace the fuel filter does it? Will the stock Filter be ok, or is another one nessasary? Thanks for any input, Martin

MBC has nothing to do with your no start problem.
Car should still start even though you have a stock FPR.
And the FPR does not replace your fuel filter that is on the other side of the fuel system before the fuel injectors.

As always, you need 3 things to start your car:

1. Fuel
2. Air
3. Spark

You messed with the fuel portion when you added the 255. Did you hook it up right? Are you sure it works? (you might have gotten a defective one) There is a simple way to check if it works.

This should help you out.

btw, this is why this connector is so cool:

* check that the fuel pump is operating correctly; and
* Run the fuel pump with the car off, to drain out the gasoline currently in the tank.
The second part is the cool part because 110 octane and C16 is so expensive. Why waste it at the track, pump it out, and save it if need be or sell to someone who could use it.

Boost has nothing to do with an engine starting. However, vacuum does play a role.

That said, bane3D is correct - verify whether you're lacking fuel, fire, compression, or timing.

My obvious guess would be fuel. How long as the car been sitting "since the last time it ran"?
Do you have a fuel pressure gauge you can hook up? I'd like to see the pre-rail, post-filter fuel pressure. You may have a cracked or misaligned o-ring on your fuel pump. You're right in knowing that you need the AFPR for your 255, but going without one for a few days is not going to keep your car from starting. At least not going by my logic........ ;)

See if you can get her going with starter fluid. If so, I'd be willing to bet money on fuel pressure. (I'm still willing to bet on it now, but that would just give us an even bigger clue ;) )

Also - The stock fuel filter will be fine, assuming you're talking about the one on the firewall. I've been using a Fram filter with good results.

The reason i thought it was too much fuel pressure is when i tried to start it up, i had a friend watch under the hood, my fuel filter was sqeeting out a real fine mist of fuel from the bottom, when i tightened it up it started then from the top even with it tightened down...i will try the fuel pump test connection and see what that does for me, i will post the results on here when i do it tommorow, thanks for all the help and if anyone else has any suggestions, i appreciate it....

Also i should add, i have on order the Aeromotive AFPR, with the bolt on gauge, also an external autometer ultralite gauge for the dash....so i will hook those up and see what the fuel pressure reading is....

Did you tighten it to specs? I don't have the torque specs for the fuel filter in front of me, but you've gotta get them "pretty damn snug". Fuel pressure that is too high can cause vapor lock, but a 255 shouldn't overrun the stock FPR on start-up. USUALLY you don't run into fuel pressure problems w/ the 255 until you get on it a bit.
