Hi, 1990 dsm using aem ems. The car ran fine last season.. I pulled the harness of and removed wires i didn't need (for stock boost solenoid, stock 02, maf etc). I do have electrical back round and was fairly confident with my work, so im hoping this is a simple solution and im just over looking something.

The car uses AEM EMS, when i connect the battery cables everything is fine, all fuses are good. I get in, turn the key to acc and i get a strange dash light 'ANTILOCK' or something, which im assuming is for ABS? Which my car never had.. Strange. Other than that, all is normal, except i DONT hear my pump prime (it always does when go to acc).

I turn the key completely and nothing, i hear a relay click somewhere, but no crank.. Its as if the ECU has no power.

Now.. At the ECU there are the connectors, there are the 3 yellows which go to the ECU itself, than there are 2 white connectors, maybe a.. 10 and 14 pin? I don't know exactly.. But I can't seem to find a home for them, I did re-loom the harness at the ended up at the end right beside the yellow ones, Im wondering if they were supposed to end up elsewhere and thats why im not seeing a place for them.

If anyone knows what these 2 white connectors are for (part of the engine harness), please let me know. Im thinking this is the issue..

Please help, thanks. Its a 1990 TSI.

If the ECU is behind the radio as in the 2g's (forgive me I never replaced a 1g ECU yet) I see the MPI relay connector to the right and the Theft-alarm starter relay connector to the left.

Both of those would cause you the issues you are experiencing.

Yes, stock location is behind the radio.

I found a picture online of the exact plugs i have that are NOT connected

Which i read are 'main relay plug' and 'C67'.

thanks, im just going to look over it tomorrow.. Im sure its just something simple I hope, since im not getting anything at all.

Well.. I plugged in the missing connectors, and the pump primes now, but still nothing happens when i go to 'start' no crank. At least there's no fuel leaks haha. I do however have a dash light called 'ANTI LOCK' that ive never seen before, wonder what this is about considering my car dosen't even have ABS.

well... when i re-did my harness, i decided to remove the wire for the starter signal (I though the cruise control plug was the starter signal plug). So i had the plug for the cruise which i dont have anymore, plugged into the plug which goes to the starter signal wire (same plug), once i looked at this and figured out how much i screwed up, i just found the proper starter wire, extended it back to where it should be and she fired right up no problem. Idled really nice too.

Stupid me, I knew it was something easy.
