Ok guy i searched and searched and cannot find/figure out the problem. I came to the conclusion that i have no spark..AT ALL..I just put another head on the car due to my last one bending valves. I have compression but no spark. I have a volt tester that messures all resistance and voltage..When i look at how to test the coil pack primary resistance do i suppose to test it at the plug or the connecter itself..the secondary is reading 13.13, and 13.5 so the coil pack is good?? But when i do the primary i get readings like .1 to .5...Where should i have my meters turned to. I know the horseshoe sign is for resistance, but it gives me values(20m, 2m, 200k, 20k, 2k, 200) which one do i turn the nob to..I also unpluged the transitor and tried starting the car and it makes the same exact sound as if i had it plug up..I switch transistors and still no spark..I need help havnt driven my car in 3 months and its my DD.

ok just did a compression test....., but i dont think i done it right....
65, 50, 50, 50

But this is not at operating temperature, i cant even start the car to get it at the operating temp

So one gallon? Im still curious if it will cough for you with a squirt of starter fluid.

I took off the upper intercooler pipe(flex piece) and sprayed in there while my mom cranked the car over, and it coughed like it spit it back on my hand??? Dont know wut that means

Where is the MPI relay and MFI relay located, im going there next

could it be my crank sensor??? Im going to change that next..i think it may be the culprit not firing my injectors...God i pray:pray::pray:

Man I have been having having troubles of my own. Im installing a fresh 6 bolt into my 98 spyder and now I have no spark. Im new to the dsm world and im getting a rough introduction. But anyways, get a test light and that will tell you if your injectors are pulsing. I will go into more detail once you obtain one.

LOL....Well im going to change my cranksensor anyway as i feel i have a problem with it....LOL, but your not getting spark on a 6bolt swap?? I do know from experience that if u dont have spark with a 6bolt most of the time its the cas, they have to be rewired....then on that note the spark plug firing order is different..Going to class i'll be back shortly

The CAS is wired per diagrams on this site. Im getting my negative coil trigger pulses, but the plugs aren't firing. I tried a known good coil set with the same result. I think your bad luck... Ha ha

LOL..could be. But, did you try another cas. To my understanding the cas controls the spark and fuel, so if its wired up correctly then it should be the cas, Especially since its a non fixed style. And make sure its not 180* out.(this means turning it around/or flipping it) Also make sure all your connections are good....Was the car ever runing with this cas or are you still just installing everything?

The car ran great and already had a 6 bolt installed. The CAS wiring is a bit of a hack job but should be fine. Even if the CAS is 180 out, I should still get spark. I have 12v at my coil connector and I am receiving the negative trigger pulse as the motor is turning over. I purchased a remote start trigger so I didnt need to ask someone to turn it over for me.

Just out of curiousity, how are you checking for spark? With a plug out?

Plug wires laying out on the valve cover. If there is spark I promise it will find a ground.

Still using the stock dual output coils? The spark current isn't looking for a ground, technically. It is looking for a return path from one of the coil output towers, to the other. On the car, it just happens that this is from one plug, through the head, and back out the other plug.

If you use a jumper wire to short the #4 output to the head(or to a spark plug in the #1 wire), it will make it a little easier to see a spark on the #1. If you don't do this, then you are trying to make the spark jump 2 big plug gaps, instead of just 1, which may be too much for it.

Wow.. I thank you sir. My electrical theory wasn't holding up. I will re-ground that particular coils "partner" if you will, and test again.

Hey ken your getting spark now right?

yes sir, spark on all 4 plugs.....i think my crank sensor isnt sending a signal to the ecu for my injectors...or its sending a weak signal..its been on there since 1994, so i honestly think its done..

checked my timing just to make sure..everything is perfect, but i also pulled my crank sensor...the magnet part is shiney because i had wiped some of the sludge off when i was uninstalling it. But it was covered and thats probably why it couldnt get a good signal....Its horrible..check it out

Not sure if that would be enough to hurt it or not. Are you going to reinstall and try it or wait for the replacement?

Im going to wait for the replacement....I honestly believe it was that, mainly because it was covered there was no shiney part what so ever...it was covered, i kinda wiped it off by accident when i was taking it off. so i cleaned the mpi, and mfi relay grounds too...so hopefully everything will be ok. My conclusion was a weak signal from the crank and obviously all that gunk can cause that magnet to not get the full signal. Plus it was out in the rain and all that too..so, we'll see. Im still checkin all my wires too tho

Good deal. I've got spark on my motor now. It coughs and sputters but wont start. I tried flipping the cas 180 and that didnt help. This will be the first time this motor has ever run.

so its trying to crank.....take the spark plugs out and let them dry or dry them yourself. Because i bet when u were turning the car with no spark the injectors were getting them wet. Dry them off and try again. Make sure everything is pluged up..If it sputters its trying
