I had the head pulled for a couple of burnt valves. Put her back on, and when I fired it up, the oil pressure light was on, and there was no pressure showing on the crappy funky stock gauge. I was concerned, but then I recalled that the wire to the light had come off, though I had put it back on after that, I thought maybe it was something like that.
So I let it run for another 30 seconds or so, revved it once or twice and turned it off to check an exhaust leak where I had forgotten to tighten the downpipe to turbo connection.
Went back and started it again and after a while of running, the oil pressuree light came off and pressure rose on the gauge.
The whole time this happened, the engine never sounded unusual or anything else, besides waiting for the lifters to fill.
HAs anyone else seen this happen? Maybe there was some dirt or scrapings from the old head gasket fell in the holes in the block and was blocking the sensors off and then they got clean after revving it?
Or was there no pressure because filling up the lifters takes some oil pressure away?
Last time I pulled the head I don't remember this happening I thought it was kind of odd.
I did prime the system by turning it over a few times with the mpi fuse pulled and ignition off/not plugged in. I also poured a little oil into the turbo oil feed line using an eye dropper kinda thing to prime the turbo. Car runs great.
