I have no boost what so ever, and a very loud whine. I was at work and had to drive home 75 miles with the whine. The car ran great but had no power, or boost. Do you think the turbo went south, or could it be something else. I check all the turbo piping and every thing is tight. Any info would help.

If I need a new turbo I want to install the 14b again because this is my daily driver. Where would be a good place to find a 14b turbo. 91 talon 2wd TSI.

My old 14B whined loud as hell before it blew, but it still had tons of power. Take off your intake pipe and feel if the turbo fins move side to side or up and down a lot. Also, pull off your lower IC pipe and see if it is oil soaked. You can pic up a mint 14B for $150, dont pay more than that for one, check to see if there is a local car forum in your area and check the classifieds there. You can look at the classifieds on here, but Ebay is safer.

I pulled off the intake tubing and well this is what I found. The i guess called turbine not sure rotates fine and not very much side to side movement. But here is a pick of the turbine chewed up. Guess I need a new turbo.

:talon:You really need to do a boost leak test or at least a very close inspection of your inter cooler pipes. If you have a significant boost leak, especially on the lower ICP or at the inter cooler it can cause symptoms like that. I recently had a clamp work its way off at the j pipe and you would have thought I was driving a jet car by the sound of it. It whined pretty loud with no boost. My first thought was a blown turbo but it was just a matter of adjusting then tightening that t-bolt clamp.
It does also sound like a blown turbo but from my experience it could be much more simple.

GOOD LUCK

OK, ignore my last post. that pic was not up when I posted that.
Looks like your turbo's toast. Sorry I was hoping it was something trivial.

yeah at first i was hoping for your sake it was just a boost leak when you were hitting boost but thats toast pull that out like yesterday. change your oil see if you get any metal shavings, make sure ## engines not messed up.
