There is a very loud whine coming from somewhere in my engine compartment i cant tell exactly where from. The whine only comes on at about 5psi and around 2500rpms and stays until i let off the throttle(not road speed related). It cant be heard revving in neutral without a load on the car, but here is the deal:

1.The turbo is mint, i checked for shaft play nothing side to side or in and out. The turbine spins freely without an rubbing on either side. (stock t25)

2.I just did a boost leak test and got nothing, everything is tight and BOV isnt leaking.

3. I checked all the WG lines i can see in the front of the engine bay.

The car is an automatic, and is all stock.

Please help ive been killin' myself tryin to figure out what this is!

Thanks

Depending on the whining noise, did you check all of your belts? Sometimes worn belts will whine from time to time even when the engine is completely warm.

It sounda an awful lot like a worn belt. Easy/cheap way to check is to go to walmart/parts store and buy some belt dressing and spray onto belts (don't soak them just enough to cover them.) If it quiets the whine up you need to replace the belt. This is just a bandaid and is not a permanent fix the belt will need replaced cause the whine will return.

Water pumps have been known to whine whenever. Just depends on how bad the bearing is. The Trans pump is located behind the torque converter in the bell housing. It is what seperates the internal of the trans from the bellhousing area.

You can usually get pretty close by the type of whine. Sounds to me like a belt, pulley or a clog somewhere in your exhaust system such as a cat.

My power steering system is leaking alittle and every now and then my pump will wine. That could be what you are hearing

I know you already said you checked the turbo...but it might be on its way out... I hate to say it but that exactly what happened to me.I checked my turbo and had no play and a week later when i go sick of my car sounding like a pullied cobra i checked again and noticed very minimal play then i jumped on the highway one day did a pull with a WRX and BOOM! lucky for me I had a E3 16G sitting in my room...sorry for the long post
