I just installed the three following parts today: Dejontool J pipe, S pipe, and Greddy Type-S BOV; and now whenever the turbo spools it has a much higher pitch and volume to it. I've got the pipes on as securely as possible, and the BOV is recirculated (although I left the bottom nipple open). I'm not getting any more boost than I had previously (12-13 psi), vaccum is still about the same (-20 hg), idle seems a tiny bit lower (perhaps 500-600 rpms). Adjusting the spring on the BOV doesn't appear to do anything.

Is my turbo supposed to sound this much louder with these add-ons?

Is what I'm hearing possibly compressor surge?

Should I T-in the lower nipple on my BOV? If so, where exactly?

I've read threads about 'where to position the nut on your BOV spring', but there's one thing I'm still confused about - If the nut is adjusted 'looser', it sits freely on the screw ... does the spring come up to meet it or does it really serve no purpose? It seems to be just flopping around up there.

Lastly, that POS stock IC can kiss my butt. I can't count the number of cuts/scratches/bruises that thing cost me while removing it. I highly recommend to anyone planning on doing this to wear protective gloves.

When I put my new intake on, my turbo was a lot louder and I could hear it spool up too. So I'm pretty sure it's normal.

It sounds like a damn kazoo, and I can hear it over my stereo. Strangely enough it doesn't make the sound under low boost or when the turbo is spooling, just when I get the lead out.

I've read more than once that t25's get loud when they have a lot of shaft play. But it's odd it didnt get loud untill you put these parts on. How many miles are on your car? My buddys 99gst has 60k on it and he has horrible shaft play. Since you got a j-pipe, a 150 dollar 14b would be a pretty good upgrade. :thumb:

wow thats way high pitched, i have a way wicked sounding spool up, the person who ownned the car b4 me had the housing ported an it snds alot deeper then that and it is from spool up will i blow off, i would check for shaft play

Stupid me, I think I found the problem. Small leak at the BOV flange. It wasn't bolted down tight enough :p The Greddy Type-S does sound mean tho.

LOL that's a helarious sound, definately a boost leak. but least you figured it out now and can laugh at it now. every1 makes stupid mistakes... forgetting to plug in mass air meter get's me everytime :thumb:

It does sound pretty good but I noticed that in your mod list you don't have a hard intake pipe, just a filter. I was considering getting a type-s bov and just use the 1g flange I have on my uip but I don't know what it sounds like with a complete hard intake pipe (i.e. injen), not those kinds like RRE sells where you just replace part of the stock piping. So if anyone has a hard intake pipe w/ filter, upper j pipe, and upper s pipe along with a type-s how does it sound (recirculated that is)?
