Ok ill start with the basics, 1997 gsx, im running a brand new (2,000 miles) ebay 16g on 27 psi.
well i was running this set up for awhile (2,000 miles) on a stock head gasket and stock head bolts (yes i know) and the head finally lifted and i blew the head gasket. Right before this, whenever the car would hit/see boost, it felt like it was "dragging" or the brakes were being applied until about 6 psi, then it would boost normally, and i also heard a faint whine at boost. Head gasket blew, i replaced the head gasket and put some ARP head studs in. Now the car is doing the same thing but the whine has gotten extremely loud (sounds like a god dam whipple twin screw supercharger). It still feels like it drags when it first hits boost (from 0-5 psi) then after that, it runs like a raped ape.
My friend says its the clutch on its way out, i doubt it. i am running a brand new stock clutch. It started to slip slightly (only when ive been riding it and it gets hot) but the sound is boost related, not rpm related. For example, in 2nd gear, i get the car up to 15 psi and let off the gas, gauge goes to vacuum and car sounds normal, get back into boost and the whine comes back.
Im kind of wondering if the blown head gasket messed up my turbo (water/oil mix)
or if its just because my friend decided it would be a good idea to adjust my internal wastegate so my EBAY 16g boosted to 27 psi.. i knew it wasnt a good idea and ive told him continually that we need to turn it down, TOO LATE?
Thanks for all the help in advance, hope i can get this figured out soon.
