sounds like a supercharger!!!! please help?????

hey guys i just got my evo 3 manifold and megan o2 housing installed now when my car gets into boost it sounds more like a supercharger than a turbo and i have no idea what the problem is could my turbo be bad or do i have a leak somewhere any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

If you removed any boost piping do a boost leak test or retighten all the boost piping.If the turbo was fine before the mods you probably have a huge leak.

I doubt you killed the turbo by swapping a manifold and o2 housing.

ok ill recheck that and yeah before i installed that stuff there was no loud whining sound at all now after 3k its very loud

Mine whines kind of like a supercharger too. Haven't had anytime to look into it though. Even after I fixed my boost leaks, it still does it.

Whines how? If you hear it out your exhaust pipe, thats normal, and its called turbo whine....

Could be ac compressor also if its not coming from the motor. Does it sound like it come from the timing side under the intake manifold?

Mine used to do that. Turns out it was my Blow off valve gasket. It had a small crack in it and under boost it sounded exactly like a supercharger. Not gonna lie. sounded pretty cool.... But I was running hella rich so I had to fix it.
