What's up everybody I am new to this forum but I have searched it up and down and still have found no clear n2o information. I have a 2g 420a powered eclipse. Yes I have everything rebuilt, forged internals, etc, etc. I am just too pooor and impatient to turbo it LOL. I know the difference between wet, dry, and direct port systems but I am curious as to which one to use. And I hear stuff about retarding the timing to prevent detonation is this true? whats the biggest shot one can use? and I was thinking about removing my passenger seat to put the bottle there, is this a good idea? any help would be greatly appreciated...thank youuu :)

I wouldn't go over a 50 shot dry, 100 wet, this is assuming you have a WOT switch for the No2 and add fuel, Putting the bottle where the passenger side seat is is a good idea, nos is only legal if your bottle is closed, so when the popo pulls you over you can just reach over and turn the nob, this will save you $ cause remote bottle openers are like 150$

Wet systems are nitrous and fuel sprayed together, Dry is just nitrous which is harder on your engine, Do Not Do a Dry shot!

I would Suggest you get a Direct port wet kit. Its safer. But more expensive..

I say its safer because on a single fogger, as soon as you spray, the nitrous is not evenly distributed to each cylinder. but on a direct port kit each cylinder will get the right amount everytime.

Next since you have a built motor I would suggest upto 150 shot (wet).

It is true that you might have to retard the timing with a bigger shot but who the hell wants to do that?? ROFL its retarded!

Last... Dont get all fast and furious, unless this is a track car then dont put it in the front seat, think about it. if the cops see it they will harasssss you! and what if your mother comes to visit? your going to make her sit in the back seat? what if you have a hot date?

ROFLROFLROFL..:thumb:

ps. are you running high, low or stock compression on your pistons. your profile has no mods.

I ran Nitrous in my GS for years. The 420a has to be hooked up WET. Normally a Dry system will tap into the Fuel pressure regulator to add more fuel to the combustion chamber while the nitrous is on. However the GS runs better with a wet setup.
As for timing I did NOT retard it. I ran at least 55 tanks of nitrous through the car before I sold it with NO issues at all. The only downside of the nitrous is when you run out after a week of fun  You will spend A LOT of money filling bottles.

Thanks for the help guys. And I have a spare car for the hot dates LOL. Dia
ondrev. I am running stock compression with Rock pistons and Eagle rods. So i'm guessing it's between wet and direct port. Ok so no timing retard LOL is any one brand better? I like zex because of that purple LOL I don't have a WOT switch do I need that? What else do I need?

Here was my setup. Wet direct port kit 70 shot. Hidden under the intake manifold so no one knew I was running the bottle. A WOT switch is something that connects to your throttle body so when you push the gas to the floor, you start spraying nitrous. otherwise if you dont have a wot switch you will have to control it manually which is more dangerous.

Btw what are Rock pistons? and whats your comp ratio? WTF

Tht was ## set up? Damn that's a nice set up with th chrome valve cover n everything. Could not tell the car was loaded with spray:D my comp ratio is 9:6:1. The oem ratio. Rock pistons are the brand of pistons that came with my rebuild kit. I also have crower stage 1 bumpsticks if Thats relevant. I think I am gonna go directport because I like ## set up

So i'm guessing it's between wet and direct port.

It can't be between "wet and direct port;" they're two different characteristics. You can have a wet direct port kit, a wet single port kit, or a dry single port kit. I guess you could have a dry direct port kit, but I've never seen those.

yea thats right, I noticed that after i posted my reply LOL but thank you guys for all the help..I'm going WET DIRECT PORT hehe

In the original post you said you didn't want to spend the money to turbo the car. Well a direct port Nitrous system with bottle filling is going to cost you MORE in the end than if you just turbo'd the car. Trust me I learned that the hard way. I turbo'd my GS after about 6 years of running Nitrous...And let me tell you I wish I would have went turbo from the get go and NOT nitrous. Turbo is always there at the push of the skinny pedal.

Now if you just want to go cheap and easy...get the ZEX wet single nozzle system. They're like $500 new. Or used for like $200

Good suggestion but turboing a car that's not OE turbo requires brackets, lines, hoses, tuning, etc etc. In my opinion that is too much of a headache. Maybe thats becuase Im too busy to turbo it and need my car with no downtime. If I had the time and the SPARE CAR i would def turbo it :thumb: but yea i was lookin at all direct port systems and they are on the better side of a grand. so maybe a wet single nozzle system is a good idea..(until i get tired of it) LOL

When I was spraying my TransAm, I used a wide open throttle switch and a button on the shifter. Kind of a double safety. So I couldn't spray anything under WOT, I could come of the line go to full throttle but not blow the tires off in the sixty foot. Then hit the 150 shot the rest of the way. I ran street tires, so they spun alot. Also the double switch set up meant if one failed the other would shut of the solenoid.
Also leave you passenger seat in. It's fun to be able to take a friend with you once in a while. Take out your back seat mount the bottle so the valve is just behind your center console. That way you can still reach it while driving. "not that I condone street racing"
