I'd start with a 50 shot. It also depends on what mods you've got. IDEALLY you'd want to be able to adjust your cam timing and be able to adjust your fuel/ignition timing as well. Along with CAI and full exhaust so your car can breath better. But you can get away with and MSD coil and maybe one set colder plugs. I wouldn't reccomend doing it on a stock motor though, especially if you've got alot of miles on your ride. It'll fry your valvetrain with the quickness, rings too.

There aren't any performance gains with the MSD coilpack vs OEM. Nitrous is just like any other power adder it's all about the tuning... On a stock motor I don't think you'll be able to run a 75 shot for long if at all, but i'll leave that to somebody who has tried it already to answer you. And, yes, a range colder plug would help.

You should be able to run a 75 wet shot no problem, but a dry shot will probably blow your motor (you may be able to get away with a 35 dry shot). You don't need to tune it to run nitrous. Any other bolt-ons you have will help you out.

Have your motor compression tested to get an idea of the condition of your motor. Don't spray under 2500 RPMS. Keep your bottle pressure up, you wil notice a huge difference between low bottle pressure and good bottle pressure.

Very true BUT..... If you're engine is running harder than normal, our coil has a tendancy to cut out and run intermittant at high RPMs. Our coil puts out like 15,000 volts vs. the MSD coil that puts out something like 50,000 wihch will be more reliable, and if he's gonna get into any detonation issues, the MSD will show it on the plugs that much quicker. :thumb:

The factory coil puts out 36kV; the MSD coil is wound the same and puts out 36kV as well. The Screamin' Demon coil pack puts out 40kV, but the factory coil is more than enough power for 98% of us.

If your factory coil cuts out at high rpm, it's core may have come loose. To my knowledge, that is not a common problem for us.

Well then...that's the last time I listen to a manufacturer's BS sales pitch... So I basically paid 70 bucks for a red coil versus the one I had that was fine the way it was? I got hosed...Hosed real bad.....

I had Nitrous on my 1999 GS from 1999 till 2006 when I did the turbo conversion. It worked FINE and I NEVER had any issues...even with higher mileage. It was a 100% stock internal motor. I probably ran 50 full tanks of Nitrous or more through that car.

Dude, I'm running 17psi daily on a t3/t4e 50trim, I think I would know from experiance if the OEM coilpack wasn't enough. You shouldn't believe everything you hear. I'm not flaming you, just giving some helpful info.

Yeah if I can get burned that bad from MSD, I'm glad everything else has been through recomendation of friends. From now on, I'm gonna ask you guys before I buy anything else. :thumb:

Think of it like thsi you have piece of mind.:thumb:

I plan on running nitrous on my 420a now that I"m staying NA A LOT! Of course I have a built motor and all the bells and whistles and the ability to tune but still I don't see a 50 shot even a 75 wet of course being a problem as long as compression checks out and you have colder plugs.

Ah yes, I forgot to tell him about getting colder plugs.
