nice sounding bovs

As many of you all know how to ssq bov sounds on the twin turbo supra ( a quick tight souding noise?) but will it sound the same on 1g stock turbo laser? or should i go with the loud ass turbo xs bov? anybody know from experience?

Forget about noises that blowoff valves make. The best sounds that a DSM will make are with an external waste gate dumped to the atmosphere. Just use a recirculated 1G BOV and buy a TIAL 38mm external wastegate if you want baddass sounds. Also stutterboxes/antilag like DSMlink has(for both 1G and 2G now) make intimidating noises and shoot fire out the exhaust pipe if like that kind of crap. Go with recirculating it just works better with DSM ECU's

My Stock 1G BOV cracks pretty damn loud at 17PSI, but at less then full boost, it has a nice *psssshhhhht* sound followed with a whistle, even recirculated. When I vent, at full boost I scare the hell out of people walking on the sidewalk

The 1g BOV is also very good as long as you won't be boosting over 20 psi, then you can start to have problems.

im looking for the one that sounds like um.... try getting a pair of jeans and scratch them with your finger realy fast.... that sound does ne1 know which bov that is i think its ssq but im not sure?

i got the turbo xs h34 and i really like it... its kinda like the RFL except it is designed to recirc. im sure that you had it vent to the atmosphere and stuck a horn on it, it would be just like the RFL. im happy with my bov, to say the least. my friend has a greddy and everyone thinks my bov sounds the best.

The HKS can be tightened and loosened to a degree to give you different sounds. Mine right now sounds like "kuuuussshhh." But I like the high pitched sound better. But be careful with them, my friend tightened his so much that a piece of it blew off. The thing in the back that looks like a dog whistle, don't know what it's called.

I will be tightening mine this weekend. I want the high pitch sound.

I have two opinions and I am not biased.

My buddy has an HKS SSQ and it is louder than shit. Sounds nice and you will let everyone know that you have a turbo'd car.

I have a GReddy Type S. Nice sound, but nothing too much. I enjoy it, but could have a little bit louder I suppose.

Find some ppl who have different BOV's and listen to 'em. That's when you will know what you like.

if you recirculate the hks ssq it will sounds nice, but the high pitched sounds really comes alive when you don't recirculate, when my friend did it the echo of the bov was loud we thought it was going to break windows in people's houses. but don't try it unless you get your maf set up first.

Okay here's a different question for you. I won't hijack the thread though, . I have the greddy type-S that is bolted to the stock BOV 1g flange. I just cut new holes in it to mount the Type-S and it works fine. If I decided I wanted to try the HKS SSQ BOV, would I be able to mount it on this flange as well? Any chance I could rig it to, if the bolt holes are different lengths apart than both the stock 1g BOV and the Greddy Type-S.

The flutter you are getting in the Type-s is called COMPRESSOR SURGE. That is a very bad thing. You guys need to loosen it alittle till you can hold just about as much boost as you are trying too.

EX: leaks at 24psi cause you are really only looking to run 21psi.

Compressor Surge <--- highlight and search to see the problem it can cause.

I wish people would stop calling Blow Off Valve flutter, compressor surge... they are two different things.

Is this recirculated or not, most people are just saying yeah this bov sounds good or this one is better but most are not mentioning the recirculating part. My bro is looking into buying one for his 3S because he has the stock one and it leaks just like the 2G ones on our DSMs. He wanted the TurboXS RFL but it vents and we don't want to be venting on a newly rebuilt motor. Right now we are thinking about the Greddy Type-S or the TurboXS H-34.

I haven't heard a clip of a recirculated Type-S yet, but if this is one then we'll probably end up buying it because it sounds pretty nice, louder then the H-34 at least.

This is a recirculating BOV, I just placed an order for mine and can't wait to hear it! I had a tough time choosing between the HKS SSQV and the Type S, but I didn't want to mess with a recirc. kit for the HKS so i opted for the Type S, but in the end i am sure i will try both of them out!
