In order to make a BOV loud, you have to vent to the atmosphere right. So by venting the atmosphere would that eliminate the conflict with vehicle performance?

Yes, venting the bov would make it loud, but also NO, venting to the atmosphere would actually conflict with vehicle performance rather than eliminating any conflict. The air you are venting to the atmosphere is normally metered through the MAS and if it's not sensing that air, you're car will run rich in between shifts and may idle crappy. If you want to properly vent to make the bov loud, you have to have a proper set up with a MAF-T. Otherwise, keep your bov routed to the intake. If you want a some-what louder bov without doing anything too technical, you can always remove your stock airfilter/box and replace it with a k&n. You should be able to hear it a little more then.

Actually, I've been venting my HKS SSQV BOV to atmosphere for almost a year with no bad idle. It actually idled better with the HKS vented then it did with the stock 1g BOV.

With the stock 1g BOV, I had idle surge. My MPG did suffer, but not really that noticeable.

Actually, if you vent the air back into the intake, you are just throwing hot air back into the turbo, thus making it hotter then before. I'd rather vent that air to atmosphere then have it run through my intercooler pipes TWICE.

In that case, you also should read the thread i posted. No, dont read it, make it your bov bible.

And dont forget, it contains all of the information you shall need.

The air that's going back into the intake is normally metered by the MAS. I tried venting my 1g bov and the car ran like crap.

If you really think about it, the "hot air" that comes out of the bov is after your intercooler anyways. So how hot can it be? Even if it was hot, do you really think its going to matter? That "hot air" has already been metered, so why wouldn't you want to keep that air in the engine? All this to have a cool noise between shifts and sacrifice performance?

Colder air is denser air, if you really want to get technical about the properties of air. Denser air makes a nicer explosion inside the cumbustion chamber. Why would I want denser air to just cycle through my intercooler piping? The air isn't getting any colder by going inside the turbo TWICE. As a matter of fact, I have a 3"GM MAF and MAF-Translator ready to get bolted up to my car. All I'm waiting for is a logger.
Thanx for flaming me in here.

Some people in here just get their panties in a bunch when they read something about venting to atmosphere. You can vent to atmosphere. You might get lucky and have a good idle, you might not. You will lose a couple MPG.

Yea, why do you think people get Front Mount Intercoolers? Because after all, how hot can it be? No, because colder air is denser air. Hot air isn't good for making power. If that were the case, we'd all be driving WITHOUT a Side mount intercooler.

I don't want hot air cycling through my engine TWICE. I'm gunna vent it.
