nice sounding bovs

As many of you all know how to ssq bov sounds on the twin turbo supra ( a quick tight souding noise?) but will it sound the same on 1g stock turbo laser? or should i go with the loud ass turbo xs bov? anybody know from experience?

If you want loud the Turbo XS RFL is what you want. That is the loudest blow off valve available. It sounds sooooooooo nice. Only problem is you can't recirculate it which may cause problems. Once i relocate my maf i'm putting my RFL on.

Loud isnt the only thing im looking for i really like that sound of the ssq on all those supras my friend has one do the bovs all sound the same on all cars?

HKS SSQ is what I'm running. Good sound even when recirculated. Supras run them, that has to say something

Does any one know what bov makes the fluttering noise or is that just from backing out the tension screw thing?

most of the fluttering comes from losining that nut but i think theres a bov thats made to sound like that like the skyline from 2 fast if you listen when there first at the line you hear a flutter

Similar but not the same. If you were making around the same horsepower as one of your friends Supra's, then it might sound the same. Equal horsepower means same amount of air being moved, hence the same sound. 800whp MKIV's sound nice with the HKS, 300hp DSM will sound different though.

My Tial sounds bad azz. It flutters when I am at lower boost and then sounds like it is going to blow the hood off @ my 20lbs of boost

ya my type S flutters when i dont build full boost or almost full boost.

But i have to say its easily the nicest sounding BOV out there...it has a unique sound and its much different then all the other BOV's.

are you talking about the type S being the best sounding? or HKS?

You know, those things are there to perform a function, not to sound pretty...

But if you ABSOLUTELY must sound pretty, the HKS has a nice sound.

The flutter you are getting in the Type-s is called COMPRESSOR SURGE. That is a very bad thing. You guys need to loosen it alittle till you can hold just about as much boost as you are trying too.

EX: leaks at 24psi cause you are really only looking to run 21psi.

Compressor Surge <--- highlight and search to see the problem it can cause.

The HKS is made to sound the way it does. The Type-S is made to sound like a sharp blow off, not flutter.

I have a Type-S. I'm MUCH MORE than happy with it. It sounds F---ing awsome whether it's at 12 psi or 20. Of course at 20 and about 6k rpm is sounds like it could knock you over. Then again most blow off valves will sound this way when matched with a high flowing turbo and high pressure.

Forget about noises that blowoff valves make. The best sounds that a DSM will make are with an external waste gate dumped to the atmosphere. Just use a recirculated 1G BOV and buy a TIAL 38mm external wastegate if you want baddass sounds. Also stutterboxes/antilag like DSMlink has(for both 1G and 2G now) make intimidating noises and shoot fire out the exhaust pipe if like that kind of crap. Go with recirculating it just works better with DSM ECU's

type S by far....if you havent heard it then dont say ne thing about it...because its way better then any one out there when it comes to sound. It sounds like a whiplash....not just like a whoosh of air

HKS is the best sounding. My opinion of course. Its all up to ones preference. I like the sharp sound the HKS makes. It does make a sharp sound then flutters at low boost. @ about 25lbs of PSI it emits the same sound as the SupraTT. The TurboXS is the one I dislike the most..it sounds like leaking air & so does the Blitz. A few of my buddies have each of the different BOVs.
