I have researched a lot on this site an love it. I am usually pretty good at finding out my answers but at this point i need some guidance because this is a big decision and i dont want to have to undo any mods because i dont like them and i dont have the wallet too.

My set up is current in my profile but if your lazy like me you wont look so here ya go.

6bolt swap, arp everything, engine balancing, total engine rebuild, 1g (7:8.1) compression.

shep stage two trans, act2600, fidanza fw,

ebay16g knock off, fmic 27X7X3, custom piping, 1g bov,

linkv3 , walbro 255, 880 precisions, turbo xs boost controller


My future plans this month are, gm maf, cyclone intake, and getting some of my intercooler piping welded to get rid of a few couplers. I need to upgrade my turbo . I talked to justin from greensburg pa on here an he said he could take my 16g exhaust side an throw a 20g compressor in. I love the spool of the 16g but i wanna beat up on some vettes,and i want to take this car from being quick to stupid fast so im looking for suggestions. i have been real interested in hx35 and tdo5 20. Im not sure what to pick because i like my low spool up that i have now. I have seen people go 11s on a hx35 with stock engines so that kinda what im going for. I set this engine up for 400 hp ish.

On the suspension side of things i had a tokico lowering kit with illuminas but even after 2 trips to the alignment shop and rear diy camber kit i still chewed up tires because my factory rear toe adjustments were seized and my camber was way out so i had to take the springs off an put my stockers on. My tire wear was through the roof so any comments on this would be sweet cause it was very frustrating. My personal thoughts i didnt like the way the upper control arms were burried in the wheel well, It didnt look like it was healthy for the bushings and suspenion parts over all while it was installed.

I am on a college kid budget so big 1000 dollar turbos are out the window for me but i want all suggestions to make this thing more of a beast and not all top end this is a daily an i love my torque right now.
 
A Hx35 is a awesome turbo!! 20g awesome turbo!! prices could be about the same for each one... With a HX35 you will have to get a BEP bolt on housing and oil line's and hardware... With the 20g it will bolt on and use your stock oil line's and hardware!!

So its up to you what route you want to go!!!

Both turbos can give you your 11s goal...
 
Well i have been told the 20g spool is around 3800rpm and a hx35 is about the same but wouldnt a hx35 flow more per min. The 20g would flow 40 41lb where a hx 35 with a 50 housing would be more like 50 lb per min. Same spool but more airflow wouldnt the hx 35 be a better choice or am i out to lunch.

Yeah the Hx35 will flow more, but with your goals a 20g will be good!!

I dont now much about the spool of the Hx35 with a .55 ar bolt on housing!
I have heard good things though...
 
Which housing do you have on your hx35? And im interested in the tdo5 20g which 20g would i need to meet my goals. I remember you telling me your spool is around 4000 rpm. How would a 20g meet my goals? Would i run 11s on pump gas? An were you running 11s on pump gas?

I have the T3 vband .70 ar housing...

I ran a 11.88 @ 116.97 on pump gas, at 23psi..

I have seen cars in the 11s with a 20g turbo, I use to have a tdo5 20g and my best was a 12.34 @ 113.46 at 20psi. Id say if you had a 20g at 23-25psi with a good tune you should be in the high 11s.. But the 20g is about at its max air flow at 25psi, i think, so if you want to grow from there i would just get a Hx35 and be done with it..IMOP
 
Would you happen to know what the spool difference is between the 20g and the hx35? I do love my torque. Are you running cams with your set up?

Im running cams and i see full boost at 4200 in third gear..
Now with the .55 ar housing it should spool sooner, mine is the .70 ar housing!
If i remember right my 20g hit full boost around 3600 in third gear..

I would get an 18g, aftermarket bov, and turn that boost up. It should save your budget a little bit, and you should be able to take some ls1 vettes.

I have the comp 101200's and they are very nice for the street and you dont have to upgrade your valve train to run them.. If your interested ingetting some cams i will be selling mine soon, pm me if your interested!!
 
Im currently running 22psi. Also a stock 1g bov will hold 30 lbs of boost if modded correctly . Im not really impressed with an 18g, i would rather keep the 16g and get every ounce out of that then go to an 18g i just dont see the upsides of getting one.

I know very little about the comp 101s what are they comparable to if anything. And pm me on a sale price if you wanna get rid of em. I am trying to kinda beat a vette but its a specific one. I just am unsure of choosing a turbo as you can tell.
 
I would go with a Hx35 with a bolt on housing, set of cams, gm mas, and run around 25psi and you should be in the 11s with out a dout!!!
 
Thats kinda what i have been leaning too but im just stuck between both the hx35 and the 20g because i am concerned about my spool and i have no comparison personally between the two. For my goal just as most others i want the best possible spool up an the ability to meet my goals of 400 plus hp and 11 sec time slip.
