new to the forums and new to dsms. my turbo (stock) recently started leaking oil so I ordered a brand new one thats a 16g from ko motorsports online. I just installed the turbo, drove it about 30 miles and got into boost in second gear. Online it says the internal wastegate is adjusted to 12 pounds of boost, In second gear it got to about 25 pounds then I let out (don't wanna blow it) I was just wondering if any of you guys might have any ideas on how to get it to boost properly? Thanks in advance!

okay i will try that now and get back to you guys. Thanks!

okay so feedback. I ran the line from the intercooler piping to the wastegate nipple and the problem still is occurring. then I decided to unplug the factory electric boost source, and its doing the same exact problem so it sounds like the boost controller is bad. thoughts?

i did it two seperate times and also i was reading that if you connect the line off the turbo to the actuator then it should produce low boost. is there any truth to this? and i will do that thanks

WHat line from the turbo are you talking about? Connecting a line from the intercooler piping to the wastegate actuator should be the same thing if you are talking about tapping into a boost source from the compressor housing.

Just replace the mbc in the vacuum diagram with just a standard vacuum line and thats what I would try. You dont need to t anything off though if you can give each there own boost source it would be better.

I tried changing the vacuum lines like you said and it's still doing the same thing. I'm thinking maybe a manual boost controller will help?

IMO it's boost creep. Only real solution is an external wastegate or porting the turbine side. That is unless you have a severe amount of boost leaking.

Done a boost leak test?

Run a line from a port on your turbo, j pipe, etc straight to the wastegate, not through your factory boost controller. Hopefully that explains :thumb:

I noticed an adjustable wg rod. Did you bolt the wg on yourself or did it come pre-assembled? Perhaps it has too much preload....being that its adjustable, might have too much pullling on the spring.

Correct preload would be 2 full turns in from the point it will slide on easily.

I would check the preload, run a line straight to the wastegate, and do a boost leak test. If there is no change, test the wastegate with an air nozzle hooked to a compressor, just turn regulator down to 15-20psi.

If all tests good, and there's still no change, you have boost creep.

Sorry it took me so long to get back, I've been busy but turns out that the wastegate wasn't adjusted from the factory and had too much preload so the wastegate wasn't opening at all.

If you need help working on it, shoot me a PM. I'm not far from you and help people in the valley a lot.
