Look, every DSMr with exerience will tell you a beginner in the DSM world needs to start from scratch. Due to the fact it is true. I can wright a book on reasons and experiences why you SHOULD NOT buy someone elses project. especially a new guy to the DSM world. I know it might be a great deal but its not worth it. You will spend more garage time then driving time, and it being a front wheel drive and all that power, you damn well better be ready for tire spin and tickets cause thats what it will do, unless you are very good at keeping the thing from spinning

If you want a dsm, Wait for an awd, and start there. you learn more and understand more about these cars after doing the work your self and spending time with it.

I beleive if you have the patients, money, and will to learn you might be able to pull it off. I will also tell you the same thing i tell every new comer wanting to buy a highly modified car for a "steal of a deal." I tell them I will put the title of one of my talons on the line saying you WILL have that car being torn apart for some reason with in a month. I have seen thousands of threads On the newbie forum stating a steal of a deal turned bad. so its a gamble. less of a gamble if you just get a stock dsm and modify to your own will and budget. my two cents

Maybe I missed it but is the car a 1g or a 2g? If it's a 2g and you don't like the fwd, just find a donor car and convert it to AWD...

That's a pretty damn expensive and involved conversion project. Is it really worth the time, energy, headache, and money? I guess if you're a die-hard DSMer and want to take on the project on a car that isn't a daily driver, sure. It could be rewarding for some. But to suggest that someone just getting into DSMs do an AWD conversion on a daily driver - I don't know if that's the best advice. It's not like this is an SR20 engine swap that has been done hundreds of times in our community.
