Well i dont know if this is the place to post this or not but im new and I just bought a 97 GSX, it is completely stock which is hard to find so i get to start from scratch fortunately but was wondering what i should do from here, there are only 96,xxx miles on it and i just wanna make a daily driver that can race if need be but im not trying to put nitrous in it or anything. Just dont know if theres any faults i should fix before doing anything else. Anyway, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Welcome and to start off do.all your maintenance. Timing belt, water pump, tensioner, gaskets plugs, wires, ect.

Welcome. Another huge thing about modding a car is making sure all the maintenance is up to date and you continue to practice proper maintenance. One huge reason dsms have the bad name they do

The VERY first thing I do after buying a car is oil, fuel filter, and air filter. It doesn't matter how they look, it's worth the little bit of money just to be sure.

We can't tell you how to build your car- search and read the wealth information on this site as literally every member here was in your shoes at one point. Like many have said do the maintenance more than anything- as far as bolt-ons go, the upgrade path has already been outlined in this thread.
