Greetings from a newbie!

I just purchased a 93 GS 1.8 from an auction, and noticed a few problems (expected though), wondering if i need to fix right away or can they wait:

1) Main motor fan is seized up. the car hasn't overheated yet. temp stays just short of midway mostly, with a few exceptions.

will any 90-94 (1st gen?) motor fan fit up?
does anyone know the part number?
would the AC fan fit up? can they just be swapped?

2) right about 3K rpm, regardless of gear, i feel a bit of vibration. it's really tough to explain. happens consistenly from 2900 to 3100, either on the revs up or revs down.

3) the front motor mount is visibly tilted to the passenger side. it's not centered within the mount. would/could this cause a problem outside of vibration?

that's about all i can think of that might or might not cause a problem. If anyone can think of things i should look for/at, let me know. :)

Thanks in advance!

You should replace the fan as soon as you can. You can goto an autoparts store and pick up a new motor for about $40.00. That or see DSMTrader.com and post a want to buy. For now if you turn on the A/C to high (green light on button) even if it doesn't work that should turn on the A/C fan.

As, for your motor mount you can fill it with polyurithane. Just jack the tranny up a little for support and remove and fill the motor mount. Let it dry for a day and reinstall it. It could be your vibration. Are you sure the vibration isn't speed related? You just happen to be at those RPM's when you going a certain speed?

Good Luck :thumb:

Ok no1. replace the main fan, you are gonna have to have it for cooling purpouses. the A/C fan will not bolt up in place of the primary fan because of where the bolt holes are located. any stock 90-94 fan should work. If you dont have A/C but have the fan you can hook the A/C fan in conjunction with the primary fan for that extra cooling on those really long trips or hot days.
no2. have you done a tuneup and checked timing?
no3. My motor mount is slightly tilted to the passenger side too I think its made that way.

what about just removing the innards of the AC fan for now and swapping them? will that work or no?

mazda: the vibration is regardless of speed or gear... just rpm.

dream: nope, haven't tuned it or checked the timing yet. planned on it this week though.
