Ok so this is a 92 Eclipse GS. There is a hole in the flex pipe so the car is very loud. Will this hurt anything untill i get it fixed in a few days? Also, the part of the ground effects on both sides are missing but i have them. where do i get some new clips at? or can i use something else? And after i drive the car for awhile and then turn it off, its hard to start back up. Like it will spit and sputter for a lil while.

you may have a lack of backpressure with the whole but i ran my car missing the flex piece for about a week. if i would have know i could fix it for less than ten bucks i probaly would of fixed it ahead of time. just got to oreillys and get a piece of flex pipe and cut it to fit and clamp both ends down that s what i did. by the way stock exaust size is 2.5"

Stock size is slightly less than 2".

OP, no it will not hurt anything till you get it fixed.

I am just paronoid. It sounds just like my talon with no exhaust after the downpipe. I ended up blowing that a month later.

Is there a fuel filter? Is it filthy or clogged? Have you run all the gas that was in the tank when you received the car? It's most likely fuel related.

Regarding the exhaust it does need back pressure but a small hole won't kill it, it could damage the exhaust valves however.

I never heard of flex pipe so cheap. I was getting sent up creek over trying to get a 3in piece when I had my exhaust bent.

the clips you can take off another dsm at a junkyard and just put them in your pocket not like they are gonna know. as for the starting issue maybe its the coolant sensor, as for the exhaust i ran my first 90 laser n/t for a whole year with the flex pipe broken. no bent valves here just bad gas mileage.

We dont have a O' Riely's up here. To be honest, ive never seen one. I will get some clips at the junk yard. But, i dont really know how to get them out without breaking them LOL. Any tips on how to get them out? I may have a pipe laying around here somewhere for the exhaust. Shouldnt need much pipe.

You will be able to get clips through any automotive store pretty much they are fairly universal. As for the flexpipe it shouldnt hurt anything too badly, just get a new one welded back in.

Go to Autozone or Advance they have 'GM clips' (they're dark green) they work great, they actually fit in tighter and hold better. I noticed your wiper arms are pretty rusty, if you're interested in buying ones I have that I painted PM me

I will try those GM clips. I just painted the hood, spoiler, and wiper mounts yesterday so im good on that but thanks. What will low back pressure cause?

you will NOT damage any valves because of backpressure. if anything, you will overheat your engine from excssive backpressure. thats IT.

mrtalonawd95 you wont get excessive back pressure with a whole in the flex pipe or anywhere in the exhaust you need back pressure for your car to run right thats why anything over a 3" pipe is just wasting money and time your exhaust valves need backpressure to operate correctly. and i stated before you most likely will not have any damage. to the OP just patch it however you see fit.
