Ok so I've owned my 93 Talon ES for about a month and have been driving it for about 3 days. I've been slowly fixing things the previous owner messed up. So here are a list of the few problems I have left. Any suggestions on what to do would be appreciated. :)

1. 5th gear and reverse are a little funky, and pop out of gear sometimes. I'm pretty sure I just need to adjust the linkage.

2. One of the belts is squeaking, could be the alternator belt, as I just changed the alternator and the belt looked meh. It mainly only does it at start, and at low RPM.

3. The dome light only turns on when on the auto setting if the passenger door is opened, not the driver's door. Not sure on that one.

4. The fog light switch will not stay in. I have to hold it if I want the fog lights on, I'm not sure if there is an easy fix for that.

5. The piece which holds my passenger sun visor on is broken off, anyone know where I could get one or what I could use?

6. The seal on the back window/hatch is all ripped up, and gone at the bottom, not sure where I would get a replacement.

7. The emergency brake is not engaging at all. I looked at it, and it seems it pulls the cable, but it looks very slack all the way up.

Again any help is greatly appreciated =]

Okay so you have quite a few problems, and I can only address a few.

#2. You think it might be the alt. belt? And you just replaced the alt.? Well, if you did it by yourself, or didn't have a sufficient pry bar for tightening the belt, there is like a 99% chance that the belt isn't tight enough. Tighten that and the squealing should cease.

#7. If you looked at the e-brake wires and they looked slack when pulled tight, then you're going to need to tighten them. When mine is completely loose, my e-brake handle takes 11 clicks to get to the top. You're going to want to tighten it until it clicks 4-6 times and is tight. All you'll need to do it will probably be some pliers and a wrench. It's pretty easy. And I know it sounds stupid but don't forget to put the brake down before doing this, LOL.

It also sounds like you're needing some misc. replacement parts for the visor and the rear hatch weather stripping...Maybe you could find the piece for the visor at a junk yard? It's so obscure, I don't a part house would have it but you could ask.

Good luck!

#1) I had the same issue mainly just with reverse, after about an hour and two people (one under the hood and one inside) we had the linkages re-adjusted to factory settings. No more gears popping out. :D

Its fairly easy to do, just takes a bit of time.

#4) Your best bet with the fog light switch would be to replace it, you can get them at just about any auto parts store (Oreilly auto parts does have them, I know because I work there :thumb:). forgot the price on them though, they weren't to high. But if you feel like saving some money a salvage yard would be your best bet or if you can take the switch apart and find the part broken or missing and fix it then that would work as well.

Thanks for the replies guys! I found out last night what the squealing noise was -.- the alternator belt snapped on my way home. I'll have to fix that and work on adjusting the other things while i'm at it! I wish I had a junkyard near me with parts, but unfortunately none of them have any DSMs :(

#3 the door pin switch is bad or disconnected.

#4 I wired my fog lights to the low beam, they are on when the low beams are on

WOW, I can't even believe this... I've been driving the car a total of 4 days, I was on my way home and the timing belt snapped, so now I have a junk head. 5 Bad valves... You've got to be kidding me.... :banghead:
:cry::cry::cry:
