New to DSM community

New to the DSM community and looking to buy a 1998 GST. It has a 20g turbo and that is the only mod. Its priced for 3k and has 150k miles on it. I just have a few questions. About how long till i would need a rebuild, also what price range are these cars usually. 3k seems on the cheap side (Maybe not?) feedback would be much appreciated!

The rebuild would depend on a number of things. Has it ever had any kind of failure or previous rebuilds? Does the car have any kind of tuning software or has it even been tuned? What size injectors and fuel pump does it have? Any modifications to support any of that kind of turbo? Post a link with info on the car if you can.

Thats about the price for a AWD car around here in decent shape but needs a timing belt job usually ($400 in parts for the good stuff). Any timing belt change on it ever?

That's definitely a little high for a FWD car around the area. I haven't actually seen that car before. If you wanted a hand going through it before you buy, I'd be more than willing to look it over for you. I run a performance shop in Casa Grande. I can tell you right now from looking at his post, that appears to be a $2K car or so in the area here.

I've always felt that the amount of effort that goes into the ad is equal to amount the they know/care about the car. However, from the few pictures it looks like a decent body. Not even one engine bay pic?? SMH

You could pick up an AWD in that price range(I'm selling one actually). The body does look like it is in decent shape which would be a good platform for future mods. I would be cautious buying it blind though without a lot of knowledge of these cars.

As stated above I would be careful, looks like the owner doesn't know much about it and is trying to just dump the car on someone. The fact he doesn't answer makes me worry and the lack of info or pictures. I got lucky and found my car stock from a little old lady trying to get rid of her retirement toy. I would take up Tyelers offer and at least check it out though.
