New talon and New build Questions

Hey guys, I just bought a 95 Tsi Fwd with a spun rod. I am so EFFING excited!! I get to tear down the engine and rebuild it because of a spun rod. The car has been sitting for maybe 4-5 months, there was a cobweb on the thermostat housing o.0 Anyway, with it sitting for that long is there anything specific I should check out for maybe some rust or anything? Also, the engine is bone dry of oil, could the cams or the valvetrain develop any rust because of this?

Did you leave the intake and exhaust on? If so, you should be fine. Also, you spin rod bearings, not rods.

I assume the motor was run without oil, which is what caused the rod bearing failure?

If so, the cams are probably toast. The last thing i'd be worried about is rust on them.

Yeah the rod bearings. The turbo blew and the oil return clogged so the engine was deprived of oil.'
Anything to watch out for?

Also, the front bumper is damaged, will the 2g eclipse bumper bolt on without modification?

So I took off the valve cover and I can see 3 distinct holes in the head down by the lifters. Looks like I will need a new one. Tomorrow I am going to take the head off and inspect the block for damage. From what I could tell the valvetrain still looked in good shape, but I will know for sure after I take the head off. Autozone will sell me a spring compressor tool to remove the springs right?
