Nice work! I'm curious what type of paint spraying setup you used. I'm planning to re-paint a few worn parts on mine this spring and just starting to do research. I used rattle cans for my replacement door cap for the original that cracked (sounds similar to yours...it's strange 95-96 are so brittle compared to 97-99's). It came out better than expected but for more noticeable pieces I feel like a gun will yield a better result.

Thanks. I use an "Eastwood" brand gravity fed sprayer (any brand will work) fed from a 60gallon 2 stage compressor (just a shop compressor). I have the compressor hose ran into the paint booth in the shop, im not sure who makes the booth but its just a steel prefab. My dad used to paint cars when i was young so I picked up some tricks here and there. In the pictures you can see the wall of the paint booth has filters on it and theres a large fan behind them for ventilation.
You're absolutely right about getting better results from an actual gun. You can get them for cheap and just run it off most compressors. Its definitely worth learning.

Thanks man. Appreciate you sharing the info on your setup. I’ll need to start checking out guns. Since I’m doing small pieces I’m hoping to get away with a smaller compressor and get creative with “booth” setup to keep in my budget. Similar to you my dad painted most all of his restoration projects so it’s nice to have experience from him and doing some myself. I’m enjoying watching your project for sure
