hello everyone im about to purchase my first eclipse is a 97 eclipse rs with 125k miles on it the guy im buying it off from say's it needs a fuel pump and a battery.

The car has been sitting since 2007 what would everyone recommend me doing first to it i know a tune up. but if yall bought a car that has been sitting for 7 years what would yall do?

I would change ALL fluids. How much are you paying for this RS? I would take the money and put it on a 1G turbo but that's just my thought.

Hello and welcome!!! There are alot of helpful members here that will gladly chime in. I would do the normal tune up (plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter for sure), check/replace the belts and hoses as needed. If it needs a pump, consider what you will be doing in the future. Most of us bump up the fuel pump to a 190 LPG or a 255 for turbo cars. You car is a non-turbo car correct? You can browse the 420A section that is on here for more ideas. Also change all the fluids wouldn't be a bad idea of course also (trans, motor oil and coolant). Little things like wiper blades and such will be forgotten until needed so good idea to do them now too. Look the tires over well since it has been sitting. Don't want any dry rot. Check your brake fluid and PS fluid too. Glance at the rotors and see if you can tell if it is needing brake pads. If you see any grooves in your rotors then its time to have them turned or replaced. All are general tune up stuff but sitting for 7 years they all need checked or replaced. I started out in a 3G Eclipse then got into the turbo models. Good luck on the new car and again, welcome.

thanks for the welcome im going to replace all the fluids and yes its a non turbo im not looking into the whole turbo deal for a while.

well im happy to say she sprung to life for the first time in 7 years now to do the tune up and over haul.

Welcome! Make sure you double check those ball joints! They are tricky on 2gs and I think there is a recall for them! Enjoy
