Hi guys! I'm 17 and just bought a 97 eagle talon tsi.

My waste gate was not opening properly on my 16g setup and i was just running off of spring pressure. I'm porting the waste gate but is it worth it?

Should i do timing, water pump etc? I'm around 440 crank right now by doing math with my tuner but no clue hence the over boosting.

You say you're overboosting? As in the car hits waste gate pressure, then slowly continues to rise from there? What is the car doing exactly?

Again we need the profile. Hard to help if we don't know what's been done to the car.

You should definitely do your timing and pumps as often as is recommended. I'd start with either a profile of the car or rebuild the wastegate, not port it.

I gotta ask, rebuild the wastegate? What does that mean? Unless you're assuming OP has an external. Which we would know if OP would fill out a profile.

Do you know the person that you bought the car from? If not, I would start with the PMs (oil change, timing belt, etc.) before i would port the waste gate. If yes, do you know if the PMs were done on a regular basis? I would focus on ensure the car is maintained well before putting more money into performance.

Diaphragm isn't serviceable on an internal. Neither is actuator (arm?) And there is no valve seat.

I just listed some serviceable bits for internal and external wastegates. What do you mean there is no valve seat? They clearly exist and can be swapped out.
