hey, whats up guys. just purchased a 97 GST coupe 5 speed w/ 117k (100% stock) i found it on autotrader and there are only 3 gst/gsx for sale within 300 miles from me, so its pretty rare. its got new alterntor, starter, timming belt, head gasket, and clutch is in good shape. the body has some scratchs on it and the front bumper could be repainted, but other then that it runs great. is there anything else i should be considering? dont know a whole lot about the vehicle, but plan on doing a lot of reasearch. also my weekend car is a 350z. i plan on doing turbo-back, intake, bov, and fmc.

I would check the oil and plugs, and a FMIC isnt necessary unless you get a larger than stock turbo. If you want one, all the power to you, but the stock Side mount can handle pretty much anything the t-25 can throw at it.

Congrats on the find man. One thing I recommend is checking the entire car over for rust. It is very common for 2G's to rust. Other than that it sounds like a good find.

thxs guys. the oil looks pretty clean. which type of oil would u recommond. high mileage, or synthetic and what weight? ill def check the plugs, the wires look fairly new. there is no rust on the outside of the body at all. i havent put it up on the lift yet to check out the underneath. if i wanted to upgrade to one size bigger then the stock turbo would i need to have a tune with that as well?

Underbody is where you will find the rust. that and hiding under the sideskirts.

Synthetic all the way! A good upgrade that can push out quite a bit of power that is just a bolt on with no piping defferences would be the t28 :) Other wise if you did change piping a 14b or 16g would be plently.
