Hey everyone im new to the forum and new to owning a dsm. ive got a 97 gsx with evo 3 16g turbo i belive a evo 3 manifold or maybe its just a ported manifold to match the turbo and ported 02 housing a 3inch down pipe and 3 inch exhaust injen intake and a hallman boost controller. still has stock injectors and stock tune. the car has 315,755 miles on it the motor has just a many except it has a new ported top end timing belt ect. my question is whats the life expectancy? should i rebuild it before it blows or just add fuel and a tune and go with it? and if i do 750cc injectors a walbro 255 and fpr can i make 300whp? thanks for any replys ive had alota cars and vehicles but this is my first dsm.

Holy crap 315k!! Ive never seen a DSM with that many miles before! You could do 1 of 2 things. 1)Do all your maintenance then throw some fuel and a tune at it and ride her till she blows. Or, 2) Do a rebuild and put all those mods in after a break in!

Either way, welcome to the site!

almost 316K miles? DAMN! its been ridden long!

I would start with a rebuild. new pistons, rings, maybe rods, also have the crank checked. A stock build has been know to get over 600HP but forged parts would help as well

At 315k , I bet the engine and tranny have been replaced at some point.:applause:

I was thinking the same thing, If not then that must have been the most reliable DSM ever made!

I'm telling you guys, if you keep them stock they live forever. Who knows when that turbo was put on..

I agree^^^ My mechanic just sold his that had 302k on it and it was still running and pulling hard!!

I would certainly imagine you'd be able to make 300 with that turbo along with the 750's, 255, and afpr. Need a few other things tho like an aftermarket boost gauge, datalogger, wideband, a front mount or at least hard ic pipes though. And a way to tune such as dsm link or an other alternative that can handle that size of injector.

Its original motoran trans has a new top end an what not a older guy owned bought it new an took really good care of it. It has a front mount and boost gauge. Turbo has been on it for a about 2 years i think.

save your pics in your computer.
when you put your post, click on advance and there will show (upload/edit photos)
click on it and it will show a window, click on brows and go where you have your pics, click on it and then click on upload and your are set.

thats nuts. if u do decide to rebuild use alumnium internals forged have the infamous piston slap. just make sure when you put the fuel sytem in to get some kind of boost controller.

alright took a few days but i finaly got time to put some pics up. for 315,*** miles shes in great condition. and the pic of the engine bay is a few days after i got it i recently did a short route pipe kit.

i paid 3,000$ like i said it has a new top end an timing belt a new clutch an quite a few mods. i just bought some 650cc injectors i need a wide band a dsm link a walbro and fpr an i think im good to go...anything else i need? im just going to add fuel and tuning and run it.. if it makes it through the summer ill rebuild it in the winter if not then ill rebuild when ever she lets go.. anyone ever heard of one with this many miles on original motor still running?

If this is an intro thread then post it in the Introduction Forum.

If this is a question about what you need to get to 300whp then you need to read our sites Upgrade Paths.

If your asking if modifications A. B. C. will get you XXXwhp then thats considered bench racing and isn't allowed on our site, so please don't do it. Also, to the OP, watch your punctuation (including capitalization) in your posts before you get a warning for it, it is something we look for on our site.
