As last month I had bought a spyder 98 gst and sold my first gen. Well straight foward I liked the spyder and seen had some mods so I bought it from dealership. Now I am in a situation. The car has of I can see 880cc injectors,safc2
fmic,evo3 16g gt turbo, defi boost gauge, defi egt gauge, manual boost controler
k&n filter. The car runs fine up to 15psi but anything after it seems to act like its running out of fuel or to much.

So what I am asking what other mods do you think I should expect the car to have already and should I spend money on dyno tune it or wait till I tune myself to 20 psi then tune on dyno.

Thanks

Hang on, give me a couple minutes to telepathically see your car.

Post some pics of your engine bay, I wouldn't use an SAFC to tune anything over 750s. (I would never run an SAFC period but I digress).

Your next purchase should be dsmlink and a tune so you can have your car running properly. And an AFPR if you don't have one.

Who ever had car first put alot money into it, even got remote start and security alarm.

Better pic of engine bay.

You either need to go speed density, gm maf, or get a recirculating bov because venting into the atmosphere like that isn't helping anything.

His HKS BOV is recirculated into the intake tract....

Nothing really eye-popping in terms of mods. HKS BOV, EGT probe connected to the exhaust manifold and what looks to be amp wires hooked up to the battery.

Thanks I knew had that problem with my 1g venting didnt know these 2gs did have the same problem. Any chance my ecu is tuned for the 850 injectors you think? Would the car even run to 15psi since there to big for the safc. And I am deffintley investing in dsmlink.

Well the SAFC can only support up to 650cc safely, so I doubt it's correctly tuned unless these was something else, perhaps an ecu chip, to compensate or maybe flashed via ecuflash. What kind of ecu does it have? If it's the original one it should be a black plastic one, if not it'll be a metal case (ecu is under the center of the dash; right of the driver's feet if you want to check).

I didn't see it was recirculated, stupid phone.

I'm guessing since your car runs poorly after 15lbs that it's not properly tuned (no additional chip in your ecu). When you hit 15lbs, does it hit fuel cut or just sputter?

Ok i maned up went into the cold her few pics one of the wideband thing on the panal beside ecu, and one of ecu

sputters little like if it had a boost leak. But I did boost leak test there was none.

The wire coming from the battery, is it for an amp or fuel pump rewire. Don't see an aftermarket fpr so u might want to check the tank also to see what fuel pumps in it. Also have you started with the basics plugs, wires ect.ect?

First problem I see is your boost controller lines are t-ed into your bov line. That is a no no.. that's the first problem. Secound problem you don't have a afpr. With that being said you may have a fuel pump that's over riding the factory afpr. Then again you may not have a big enuff fuel pump for those massive injectors. Just my 2 cents. Well the third thing that concerns me is where is your boost guage hooked up too? Cause the correct place to t into is the factory fuel pressure regulator line. And your doesn't seem to be hooked in there. So where is it hooked into?

Nice catch. I do know better just never caught my eye on the boost controller. Best way to find out if I have aftermarket pump without tearing things apart is?

dyno pick wish this thing looked alot flatter

You have a 98 so you should have the flashable ecu. Ditch the safc and tune using the car's ecu.

As I was scrolling down the page, reading everyone else's posts I had noticed no one had said anything about the fuel pressure reg. Until I read yours I was going to comment on has he checked that out yet, because that could possibly be an issue also.
