I ordered the BR500 the other day as well as a ported evo mani, stainless o2 w/ 40mm Tial and dump. i've heard of the gt wheels being nice, so i ordered one. with this setup and a 3" downpipe and cat-back, do you guys figure i'll be able to hit 20psi by say.....3500-3700 rpm's?

im going ahead and mounting the tial off the stainless o2 as it has the flange built in. i figure this will work well with the flapper off of that garrett turbine (which is already bigger than mitsu's, right?). i read Corky Bell's book too and he did mention wastegate placement as key to good boost control. i believe him. i mean....c'mon guys......it's CORKY BELL!!!

anyway, what do you guys think about my pending setup? i know i cant tune like buschur so im aiming for about 400-425whp (hopefully at 20-22 psi)

:dsm:

without knowing what wheel is in the BR500 no one can tell you how your turbo is going to perform.

based on what buschur said, the br580 spools 500rpm earlier than the br-57. the br500 is smaller than the 580. deductive reasoning brought me to this conclusion. the br-57 spools by something like 4500rpms so the br580 probably spools between 4000-4100rpms. the difference in power capabilities would lead me to believe that, when set up correctly, the br500 could spool a few hundred rpms less. i just wanted to see if everyone elses math came out about the same.

i think its safe to say the br500 is 50 trim judging by the pte, etc.

Buschur says 505whp@29psi. Im not Buschur and I wont be running 29psi, so im figuring with decent tuning i'll get about 425 out of it. plus, i plan on running roughly 20psi so it shouldnt be too hard to hit full boost by 3700rpm.

LETS TRY THIS AGAIN:mad:
This is the higher flowing custom cast TO4e housing with a GT61 comp wheel

.

Why would you need a new o2 housing? I thought they bolt right up to stock DP and o2 housing?

We will be carrying these Precision built bolt on t3t4 turbos, should be in our hands in 2 weeks. Will be running the smallest 50 trim turbo on our shops' new "budget streetracer" with a stock 2.0 and the largest PTE t3t4 (possibly GT wheel) on our shop racecar with a built 2.4.

If you are planning on running 9lbs of boost less I would not expect 425 out of it. Im sure it doesnt take 9lbs of boost to go from 425-505. Once again this all depends on the wheel thats in the turbo.

Are these available right now? As in are they in stock right now? I called PTE to order one for a friend and he told me he does not even know when they will be available to the general public and I was ready to order. If buschur has them on the shelf then I will order his br500.

92TSITalon when did they say you would receive your turbo?

they didnt say when id get it, but they are ready to be shipped from what they told me. ill call them tomorrow and see where it is in the shipping process and let you know.

They will be out late this week or next week. I talked to PTE a couple of days ago and that is what they told me. I was one of the first to order the 50 trim straight from PTE.
You are correct, the PTE bolts up just like a 16g and doesn't need an external. The lines are different though.

The first batch of turbos went to long standing vendors of PTE for sale/testing. It only took 2 weeks to sell out the first shipment. From what the grape vine is saying many shops are seeing 550 to near 600 to the floor at under 30psi of boost with the GT61. One guy has run 10.40 with a built engine, no juice, stock T-Body and a afc at under 30 psi.

We have the PTE turbos. I have been doing business with PTE for amny years and sold hundreds of thier turbos. There are many, many people in this community who get their stuff from him even if they will not admit it. The turbos are listed on our web site in the DSM performance section and the wheel specs are listed for each turbo. If you have other questions please call me 888 293 7267 or send me a note and I will get you the answer

My credit card just got charged today and he told me it wasn't going to be charged until it was shipped. So I am assuming they are going to ship it today. AGP and SBR both have SS oil feed lines. I don't know if our return lines will fit or not? I know they fit the GT center's, but I am not sure about the regular ones. The water lines must bypass the turbo.

yea, nevermind about the br500 being on the shelf. they told me it was the day i ordered it, but they emailed me today and said it wasnt. go figure. i guess i didnt talk to the right person.

where's that deal with the sfp header included. i think i might get that.

The BR-57 line kit from Buschur works just fine. Turbo fit like a pro on our first gen.

I just got my 50 trim from PTE. Wow!! The thing is sweet! They did a superb job on the turbine housing. It is nicer than the stock TO4E housing! I can't wait to get this thing on! 3" inlet, 31mm wastegate disk and heavy duty Garrett actuator.
