i just had installed a new act 2600, street disk, and a fidanza flywheel. the shop that is doing the work had me come to take a look at the aftermath. there is no pedal pressure at all and the car wont go into gear. they supposedly had someone pushing on the pedal and used a crowbar to try to further move the clutch, to try to get it into gear without the hydraulics. it still wouldnt go into gear. i told them to bleed it and they tried 3 times, but they are being a pain in the ass and dont want to bleed it again and again, like dsm's need. i need help, wtf is up with my car. the shop is trying to say that the pressure plate is bad and that they need to take it out, i need to ship it to act, and then put either a replacement or a new one back in, all at a cost to them, please help a 2g gsx in need.

This is normal for a flywheel with an incorrect step, i would have it measured to be sure. a competant mechanic should have done this before...oh well. The flywheel step is extremely crucial for any pressure plate to work properly. also double check the system to rule out any flex in the hydraulics that would rob its travel. disengagement is always a problem on DSM's because of all the flex that is in the hydraulic system...good car bad design.
dont hate me for the last statement cause you all know its true.

i had them put in a stainless line to get rid of the flex issue. also they didnt check the step. now i have to get them to rip everything out to check the step and try this all over again.

good write up! j
ust one thing you should never have to shim anything if the parts a made correctly. typically this does help but does not solve any problems if anything its a cover up of another problem ie. worn pivot ball. It should be replaced if its worn not shimmed. i liken this to the myth of the longer slave rod. if you have ever put one on you'll notice it just slides farther inside of the slave so it doesnt really increase the stroke of the system. the only adjustment is at the Master cylinder. The Master controls the slave not the other way around. i can say that you will find the answer to your problem in the write up there is very good suggestions in there minus the shimming part. just replace the parts that are worn or in question but definetly make sure your not just changing parts for kicks!
