So I just bought and installed my new tdo5h 20g :hellyeah:. My problem as the title states, I have no boost :banghead:, I have vacuum though but I'm sure that shouldn't matter. It goes up to 0 psi but nothing higher. Please don't say that it's the wastegate due to the fact I have two of the same one, one from the old turbo and one from this one, and swapped them and same thing, nothing, I don't know that's why I'm here asking. The wheel does move freely when it's idling, when I give it gas it spins faster, I did oil it before I put it in. Everything is hooked up right from what I can see, maybe not the hoses for the intercooler barb and the wastegate barb but I don't know. Please help me out here I'm new to turbo's and yes I'll admit it, I'm a noob LOL

Dumb question, but are you drving the car when there's no boost, or just sitting there revving it? You won't make boost just revving it. I know it may be a dumb question but you would not believe how many people come on the internet freaking out that they have no boost when they free rev their engine.

What type of wastegate and where is it at?

Sorry forgot to mention that it's a stock Mitsubishi internal one.

I've done both actually just to see if it was working, took it for a drive down the road and nothing over 0 psi. When I rev it up it has a high pitched whine to it, my old 13t did not do that.

dumb question, but did you check you boost gauge?

What are you using to read boost pressure? Stock gauge, aftermarket gauge, and where is it reading from? Intake manifold-vac line im guessing.

Have you done a boost leak test to see if your missing a huge thing disconnected or something?

aftermarket one glowshift to be exact, yes you are correct on the intake manifold. Also the boost leak I'm sure that could be it BUT I'm not ruling it out. Only because I tighten the s*** out of the clamps on my FMIC and piping. I don't think anything is disconnected either, I did follow the lines to see if anything came off and nothing.

If he's getting vaccume then i dont think its a standard boost leak. It might be a hell of an exhaust leak either by the manifold, or by the turbo hot side itself so it wont build up enough pressure to spool the turbo? I dont know, just a crazy stab in the dark.

Vacuum*

Are you 100% sure the actautor arm is connected to the flapper arm?

Also, follow the vacuum hose on the actuator all the way back and tell me what it connects to.

Do this and also grab the actuator arm by hand, and see if you can open-close it by hand with minimal effort. I had a 20g that took some troubleshooting and the wastegate was all hooked up but as soon as it tried to boost, the flapper opened quickly. The wastegate arm should be very hard to open by a few fingers so check that its holding closed too.

To see 0 psi you most likely got a bad gauge, open wastegate, large exhaust leak before turbocharger, or intercooler pipe fully missing or "popped" off mostly. Or tons of boost leaks to hell!

It makes a high pitched noise? Was this brand new in box, or brand new to you 20g?

well if it is a bad gauge, he should be able to feel the boost come on while driving.

When you drove the car, how high did you rev it? A 20g will come into boost a little later than a 13g. That's a jump of 3 turbocharger sizes.

When you are driving does it actually feel like there is zero boost or does it feel ok just the gauge says zero?

I bought it from a guy who rebuild and ports turbos and that's what he's thinking that it doesn't have enough pressure so he's sending me a new hot side for it.

There's no boost doesn't feel like it.

I was able to take it and pull it out and let it back in but it was really hard to do, I'll boost leak today and see what I got

Brand new to me BUT it was freshly rebuilt.

Hard to explain BUT I was able to find this and the first picture is how I have it set up.

UPDATE: For s***s and giggles, I took it for a drive again this morning and it gives me about 2 to 3 psi in first and second but in third gear the whine will go away at about 2500 to 3000 rpm and give me boost to about 15 psi but no BOV.

Check the v-band in the middle and make sure its tight. Also, if it sounds funny it could be a bent shaft. My buddy had a 14b that had a bent shaft it howled when it spooled. But it did make boost for a few miles.
