Dude, what in the hell happened to you? I think it's story time.

I couldn't imagine going through all that.

Dude, what in the hell happened to you? I think it's story time.

I couldn't imagine going through all that.

I'm sure it's been posted a bunch, but not in a thread "about it", and right now i'm tired, but all i can say is if you decide to drive a motorcycle (and even if you've done it since age 5 like myself) follow a few simple rules

In short it all adds up to a few bad decisions by even the most level headed, business owning, college attending andwhatever else may make you think "it wont happen to me" type of person you are... either way, those few bad decisions may be a rush the first 20-50 times, or it may catch up to you the first time, but one way or another, bad decisions and fast vehicles will catch up to you and not in the "i'm now a profesional driver" type of way but in the "i can't believe i'm turning 25 years old and learning how to walk again" type of way

follow these few rules and you WON't end up like me......

1.) Keep the going fast at the track

2.) never mix drinking and riding/driving, even just "a little buzz" may not lead to bad driving but it will lead to stupid F**king decisions you'll eventually regret (trust me)

3.) always pull over and man up to what you've done (even if you get away it really won't be worth it in the end in one way or another) trust me on this one too... These days I don't even think about anything other than "i hope he respects that i pulled over for him" when the cops light me up.

4.) 155MPH+ speeds are NOT meant for the public streets any time or anyplace, even a rabbit crossing the road can take your life quicker than you can lose a dollar on scratch tickets!!

5.) and if you're ever in a bad wreck or situation and you're alone and injured...no matter how bad you want to just lay back and go to sleep, if you ever want to do anything ever again in your life, fight to stay awake and make sure you put pressure on the wounds.... Sleep will seem like the best thing ever at that point but it will be the last time you ever fall asleep if you do. (and to be honest, there's a lot of times i wish i had just fallen asleep there in the field after crawling back out of the embankment, things would be a lot easier if had just closed my eyes and let go, but survival is a strong and very basic instinct)

Really all i can do is shake my head and think about all the younger people wanting motorcycles that are also considered responsible by themselves and others. it only takes one little split second of WOT when you;re mounted on top your machined with no safety belts, airbags or sheet metal around you and your life will change in an instant.. I'll go more into detail tomorrow if anyone really wants to hear/read it again, but it really all boils down to the fact that even the smartest and most responsible people will make bad decisions at one point or anothe and it doesn't take long before you have to pay the piper, trust me on that.. ALWAYS , and i mean ALWAYS no matter how bad te ticket or the DUI arrest may seem, just man up and take it like you dealt it

I still ride to this day and had another bike before i was out of the new wheelchair, and will probably always ride a bike, but i do it with a lot different mentality now days..

I don't type this becayse i'm proud of it or because i can "brag about it" (in fact i'm very ashamed) but i'll type if out 500 more times to maybe, just maybe save one out of the 250+ viewers that sees this from making the same decisions i've made and endin up like me.. I had it all//going to college for mechanical and electrical (double major) engineering degrees, owned a business making over 40k a year at age 24 that i started from scratch based on hard work and the desire to better myself, and i had a great house, awesome woman, pets, all the toys i wanted and an awesomesupportive family and anything else i could ask for. And although it took 10+ years from that fateful day, eventually that one day (august 5th 2001) cost me just about everything i've had aside from my knowledge, my family and my pets... I still have bikes and cars and toys, but to have the skeleton of some one who should be 70+ years old and going through the pain, physical therapy and emotional hardships i've experienced from a few bad decisions isn't worth anything you could ever ask for in return, again TRUST ME on this.. i'm not saying i can tell it better than anyone else, i'm just saying i'm here to tell it, and its' not a pleasant thing to be able to say

I'm SO glad that I live in a neighborhood where people mind their own business.

I stripped my 95 GSX down to just the frame and left it sitting in my driveway for a month. Nobody called the cops, and nobody complained. The GVR4 didn't move from my driveway for 6 months and nobody cared.

A guy who lives a block away has 11 vehicles parked at his house. 7 cars/trucks, a boat, a gigantic RV trailer, a freaking dump truck & flat-bed trailer. 2 of the vehicles haven't moved in almost 3 years. And he also parks the dump truck +flat-bed trailer on his front lawn at night. Personally, I think he's pushing it, but I'm not going to call the cops on him.

Gofer, the front suspension is puilled and you know about my injuries, for me to put that back on and take it off again to install the trans only so i can put it back on...
Damn Glenn. I knew the extent of your injuries were bad, I didn't realize that you were still in that much pain. Maybe call up one of your Newibie Nebraska DSMer's and ask them to get the suspension back together enough to drop it?

Either way, I'm sure you'll figure it out and I know how neighbors can be a PITA about things, especially a DSM.

:dsm:

I've had my city ordinance guy bust my balls for the same thing, Glenn. The first time, it forced me to make room in the garage for a freakin parts car. But I got smart and learned that it's OK to have an obvious parts car sitting in the driveway as long as it's sitting on a car trailer. :) I had one that sat for weeks and they never said a word.

Couldn't you just slap some suspension and wheels back on it so that it looks complete, and just leave it in the driveway? It sucks when you can't do what you want (within the law) on your own property anymore. I know I'll probably avoid city living as best as possible from now on.

^^^ Were you blowing up fish?

Did the cops really say some one said you were engaged in terrorist activity on the lake?? Were you sending fish to the middle east to be sold at market and the money used to support alquida or something LOL

No I seriously didn't do anything weird at all. The only thing I can think of is that maybe it was because the boat was sitting still, and boats are few and far between unless they got lost trying to find the Pike Hole(restaurant) but they turn right around.. Yes the cops called me to shore on a megaphone, and said "Well we got a call from a concerned local that there was possible terrorist activity going on in the lake. We're hoping it was really just you."

Glenn, got any good buddies and enough money for a case? You could probably have them come over and enjoy yourselves while drinking and putting everything back together for the time being.. :) You can even put it on a trailer from the sounds of it for added security.

I'm pretty mad my neighbour called the cops because we were cooking out. He made us shut down the grill and said I'll buy you guys mcdonalds. We were doing a fkn family thing but now i just don't know. Happy 4th? This country is not free after all. I got to deal with these people because they are good friends with my wife family.

well, tomorrow the aprts should be here and the cops should be back,, as cool as they were though i'mthinking that if i'm showing progress putting it backwhen they get here that i'll get let loose on the fines (i hope) and i hope fed-ex beats the po-po here with my partsso I can be working on it :D

Of course my parts didn't show today so i threw my first 47 dollars to the wind  i shoulda paid for the garaugnteed thursday delivery but both of us know the system and when you pay for 2 day it wouldve got there in 2 days on ground anyway LOL

Ordinances have their place, there are some real piles of shit I'd not want living next to me dropping my home value.

That being said just one car being laid up while your actively trying to work on it is BS. Thankfully I don't have a a-hole like that nit picking everything I do or don't do. We have the same ordinance, one suv has been sitting on main street for 7 years with broken windows etc and has never moved. You definitely need to mess with him. Have your friends bring a new beater over every week and put it up on jack stands, think ours is 30 days max.

Go thru the ordinances and see what he is not up to code on.

I myself can't wait to move to a acreage outside of town.

Used to have neighbors like this, used to have bonfires a couple nights a week in my back yard with friends when we were freshman and sophomores in high school. My backyard is a small ish moderately wooded area that was pretty private. We had a creek going through the back of the yard and the fire pit was about 4 feet from the creek. Allways had a bucket of water next to us like you legally had to by the city law and just having fun around the fire. We allways had the fire out by the legally stated time as well.

We had one neighbor across the creek from us about 200 yards from us that would call the police every time. We had the police show up 23 times in one single summer and every single time we werent doing anything wrong and the officer knew it and actually agreed with us. Actually got to the point where I was on a first name basis with the two different officers that would have to stop by when they called. Eventually they stopped calling but god it was annoying while they were doing it!!

the wife and I had people across the street call the cops on us all the time when we were in our town house. It was funny since the wife is a cop and know the laws. So it became a game with me. They would call 1-2 times a week about me working on cars in the garage or drive way. So I brought all my cars over to our place one time and left them in the garage and drive way for a month. At the time I had 6 dsm's LOL. They called the cops on that one many times a week. The cops came out one time and asked me about all the cars and I showed them titles and ins. card for them all. The cop thought it was a funny way to get back the the assholes across the street.

I also started working in the garage at 5am cutting, grinding and welding since that was the city law. Any time at 5am or after for power tools. They called on me a few times for that.
By the end of it they moved out and we moved to our house a few months after that and not had one problem since we moved and I have had 2 parts cars in the drive way for a few weeks and 7 of our cars at one time. The drive way is huge I can get 12 cars on it

Thank god my neighbors are car guys and dont care!! I have a 91 laser shell, my 91 talon project on jack stands, my brothers camaro (not running)! I'd be screwed if they ever decided to call the cops on me! I guess I should stop painting cars in my driveway. LOL

2 words for you Glenn. Molotov Cocktail ;)
But seriously, that is beyond ridiculous... I recommend getting some of those inflatable Christmas decorations and just surrounding the car with them. Out of sight and "Hey, STFU! I just love Christmas!"

What about those temporary garage structures? I would check, but then again, some towns / cities dont allow these either.

I am so glad that I live in a state that believes in the fact that this is a free country and that everyone has the right to pursue happiness. If I wanted to treat my property like a junk yard I could and there isn't a God damn thing anyone can do about it

Some people are just assholes with nothing better to do than ruin someone else's good time. Just give him the finger and move on. Dickheads like him will be dead inside of 10 years for stressing about everything.

Well, thankfully thisis all over whith, I started to get the car together on friday (cops showed for first ticket and saw i was making progress and let me slide, because they hate those types of calls.especially from that neighbor)

Anyway, had it all together by sunday, but yesterday (and this seems tohappen everytime I pull the trans) the started vibrated loose, broke an ear off and car wouldn't start, spent half the day getting rides to weld the starter body at home, back out to put it in, then back again because i for got the keys LOL

But as for garage structures, those are illegal by out neighborhood association.. to be clear, i'm fighting for my disability because the doctors said about 2 years ago that my condiotion will never improve more than it is which requires me to work "when and as i can" so i'm basically unhirable to most major businesses, and since my background is as a contruction company owner and worker they have to give me the SS medicaland back pay for the years i haven't been able to support myself asie from what i can do in my own little garage and metal shop, so money is too tight for thing slike that or any other methods to get even or hide the car in the driveway... I'm finally getttig a chance to work that won't mess with my SSD, (doing fab work for a major shop here in omaha that does american muscle) because they don't have a good fab guy, which also will give me free acess to the mustang dyno in there too :D so hopefully money will start improving. Also, i'm checking that if dricing taxi cab will mess with my SSD or not since i can sit and stand when i want and not on a corporate scheduale of beaks and "Work time"

we'll see, and thanks ftor all the support everyone!!!!! meansa lot to me

Well im glad your car is back together. Yeah i know how it goes my car was at my parents house while i was deployed with no motor in it. My parents were ticketed and had to go to court to prove where i was and why the car was not moving. The ticket was dismissed and i was given 30days upon reentering the country to fix my car.
