I had to deal with some bullshit like that. I was the last house on a dead end street. Across the street from me was a drainage pond. I had a jetta that the water pump had locked up and slung the timing belt on me and of course bent the valves. So i parked it on the curb in front of my house. It broke on a monday, i was waiting for the weekend to come along so that i could get it tore apart and see how bad the damage was and order the parts the following monday and get the head to the machine shop. well come wednesday i had a bright orange sticker on the windshield saying it had to be moved within 10 days or it would be towed and abunch of other bullshit.

needless to say i live outside of the city now and dont have to deal with that bullshit no more. i think its all retarded. i mean i would completely understand if there was a busted up rusted out vehicle that was a big eyesore. but when you have a decent vehicle that the owner is obviously taking care of it as quickly as he/she can then there shouldnt be a big deal about it

Actually it's awesome, to me Iowa is the place to be affraid of thecops there ar Nazi's, here in NE i've been stopped for over 140 while running (turned back because the wife pulled over after gettig scared to run) and i got let off with a yelling at and that's in a little small town.. then i've been poppe for 88 in a 45 last month and just one speeding ticket, no wreckless no searching or anything, plus NE (namnely lincoln) was known tohave the most hot rods per capita when i moved here in 1997

< fo sho, I'm affraid of iowa, I don't really smoke weed, but when i moved here almost15 years ago i did and i had a friend get arrested for a seed!!!!!! when i've had friends get pulled over here with half ounces and get tickets.. I have nothing agaisn't weed, just with my medical stuff, i don't do anything but what's prescribed to me becayuse if i fail a piss test icould lose my doctor like that..plus it makes me lazy and i like to be as active as possible but toeach his own, i'm not one to judge opthers

Love it in Iowa, you really have to be stupid here to be hassled by the cops (or cook meth). I mean like really try to be an A*hole. When you grow up with the current generation of law enforcement in town and drink beer with them on a regular basis, they tend to leave you and everyone your friends with alone. Now way it would be like that in a larger city but that does not matter what state you are in. I do enjoy some parts of Omaha. I know many Z cars of Nebraska people and meat up with them often.

Still think its total bs that they can do that to you. Do you live in an older "retired community"? These laws are new to me.

Nebraskais much the same, i've always said "you'd have to be selling crack from the bed of a pick-up truck shooting off a shotgun to really get messed with here" back in the D.C. metro where i grew u, just being pulled over was grounds for searchingeven if you're 40 years old

I live in a middle aged area now and mostly hve since moving here, the ordinance is to get the junk cars out of the city and off the roadsas eye sores, even down in the ghetto the same rules apply and did many years ago when a guy i autocrossed with when i was lie 22 got in trpouble for 2 unregistered mustang fox body parts cars on like 33rd street in south omaha

And to be honest i love omaha, I call it homenow and wouldn't fgo back east unless there was some really good motivation., we do just have a lot of weird laws as far as street parking (all in city limits though, not nebrasksa in genral) and we also have a lot of f**ked up covenences in certain neighborhoods where you cn only paint houses certain colors, canonly have certain roofmaterials, can or cnnot have a shed in back yard etc..etc..

Sorry to hear about your situation. I had a 92 tsi awd sitting in my front yard for about 2 years. Never got called on. I move it into my driveway right in front of my garage to redo the headgasket, started working on it, a few days later I get an orange tag saying I have 30 days to get rid of it. So I got the headgasket done and parted the car out because I had no title for it. People should mind their own business.

I know this is too little too late, but all you had to do was put a car cover on. You can have a car that was blown up with an RPG underneath and it's legal.

Damn, can't believe this thread is still going , I MIGHT be able to get away with a car cover if i put it on it while i pared for the winter or for a storm, but unfortunately in this area the car has to be plated, insured and running or be put in the garage, if it's in plain view it at least has to be insured i know that one, but i'm not real sure on the details concerning everything else, really just depends oin the neighbors as the cops dont care and won't come unless some one bugs them enough about it.

BUt, the neighbor who did this got turned on to calling the mayors offiuce instead of the police, it may take 3 days for them to come out, but they HAVE to come out for the sake of the mayor and his "votes" buit if the person calls the cops they can and usually do dismiss it to pursue something more important (cops told me this and also said that it was "X" neighbot and he's the same one that calls on everythig and he does call the mayors hotline so they have to respond within 72 hours and file a report on the mayors desk or withhis secretary or whatever in that amount of time)

*&^% them. I see disgusting butter balls waddling into and out of their homes on a daily bases, which is MUCH more of an eyesore than a broken down car.

I really can't stand how people use the police at a neighbor hood mediator. I don't see why people can't just confront someone, peacefully, with their grievances. Much more will be accomplished by some simple civility.
