Maybe thinking on the wrong side but have you checked door pins they control dome lights and various other things..its simply a switch breaking contact with ground so simply grounding the wire can determine if bad door pin. Sorry if this is no help but thank you for your time, Jason Penny

sounds like have a current draw. The lights staying on will deff drain the battery.

As stated above if the car has door switches and the interior lights are staying on id look into that. they are located in the door jams. Its simply a 2 wire circuit.

In all honesty idk if these cars have door switches.but if they do its a 2 wire circuit. door closes the switch becomes closed. door opens the switch is open making lights turn on. or vise versa. i work on current model hyundais and they has door switches so im sure theses 90s cars have them. let us know

I would almost bet one of your door switch wires (open the door, look down at the door jam, near the bottom and you will see a rubber cover over the door switch). Take the rubber cover off and there is a screw holding the door switch in, take the screw out and pull the switch out carefully, as I suspect a wire is off of one of them and now is touching ground, leaving the inside lights on. Check both sides. It should be obvious.
The interior lighting system is ALWAYS hot (12v+) and grounding the circuit is what makes the lights come on. If the door switches check out ok, check the hatch for a switch also. I can't remember if the lights come on with the hatch open or not.
Thinking on this, I believe when I had mine out, they were a one wire switch and the switch grounded to the door jam so I still say that ONE wire has come off of one of the switches and is touching the car inside of the door jam. If so, you may have to "fish" it out to reconnect it to the switch and you should be good!
Good luck! It shouldn't be a hard fix.:thumb:
