I'm going to get my tranny rebuilt by www.shepracing.com I told him I wanted a race rebuild and he sent me the list and numbers, then he says that he assumes I want a welded diff.

I don't know jack about welded diffs and/or why you would want your diff welded.

My goal for my car is mid 12's, autocrossing, and reliability....LOL.

Other than putting some strain on the rear axels at slow speed through corners it's not that bad. You will not really notice it during normal driving. HOwever you will feel it fighting when turning in parking lots, parking and slow driving around corners etc... Other then that it's un noticable and is pretty well the strongest solution to the trans.
