My car had a blown center diff when I got it. Since I got it running I only drove it till I realized this, + - 40 miles OMG
Any way, I was wanting some opinions on the welded center diff ($150) and the keeper to go with it ($75) from TRE.Much cheaper than a new diff. I've read that it is easy to swing the ass out wich would be hellacool! :D I also read that it chirps the tires when making tight turns at low speeds. Does it act as bad as it already does with a blown diff? Mine binds up when I make a sharp turn and doesn't even want to go until I straighten it up. If its going to do this I don't want it but if it just chirps a little and doesn't bind then I'm all for it!
Also I read that wheel hop is what usually causes it to break, If you had 50/50 then wheel hop wouldn't be a problem and there's no moving parts anymore so it would be stronger than ever, right?

I'd like to hear from anybody that has one or knows more about this.
I plan to drive this car around town and at the track but I do have another ride if that makes any?

One more thing, heard that you could take the center diff out without removing the tranny.
Any help on this?

For a street car I would not recommend welding the diff. You are locking the front wheels to the rear wheels.
You can pull the center diff without removing the tranny, but in your case you need to pull the whole tranny. You have been driving on a busted diff, and there is a good chance that you sent metal pieces throughout your tranny. You better pull it, inspect it, and clean the magnet that is inside.

Personally I wouldnt do this if I am going to drive it around town. I know people who do though. Also if you live where it snows your going to be going sideways around every corner, sounds cool till you put it in to another car remember theres other people on the road. You could take the center diff out in the car but it would be alot easier to pull the trans. If you have any ???'s about doing this yourself email me [email protected] I am a trans rebuilder and Ive done quite a few of these, I race my car too. Also this will not be cheaper than a new diff as long as the diff housing is not destroyed, and welding the diff will make the diff stronger now your going to start breaking other things, gears, axles, pto if you have a good clutch and enough power.
