Need your opinions on tranny issue...

Recently my tranny has been grinding every time practically while shifting into second, goes every time into gear but the synchro is grinding. I am about to change from Amsoil 75w-90 gear oil to Pennzoil Synchromesh, I'm hoping this will work. What is strange is one night at the mall I decided to romp on it and shift quick as I could from 1st to 2nd and didn't grind one bit...3 shifts in a row!!! But now its doing it again and did it after those 3 random times....it even grinds into 2nd while downshifting from 3rd....what do you think will need to be done now??? I'm thinking rebuild but I try to not think that b/c its so much $$$ for one stupid synchro..the gear is fine...stupid synchros....I'll keep you all posted if the Synchromesh does indeed perform a miracle compared to the Amsoil.

I would check and make sure your clutch is fully disengaging. If it is hard to shift slow that would indicate it isnt fully disengaged and dragging.

yeah, I had the same problem. All i had to do was have the slave cylinder adjusted and problem solved.

would it only do it in one particular gear though if that is the culpret??? Seems like every gear would grind if that were the case...

P.S.- what did you have to do to adjust the slave cylinder???
