I just installed a brand new shep stage three tranny in my talon, along with an SBR4000 clutch.
I have almost 200 miles on this setup, mostly highway.
I had to get into the throttle a little bit, to get into traffic, and when changing gears, i missed a shift, but was right off of the gas, the stock tach barely came close to 7K, but i think the tach may be slow.
Since then, i get a metal on metal sound every time that i press in the clutch. Don't want to drive the car till i figure out what the problems is, I don't wnat to damage anything else.
Does anyone have any input on this?

It depends on a few possibilities:

It could be as easy as adjusting the clutch Master Cylinder throw -- you could be overextending the clutch, causing the noise from your throw out bearing over-extending.

It could be a clutch/flywheel damage issue.

It could be that you damaged the bellhousing or input shaft from misalignment of the transmission case due to bolts backing out, etc.

I would try adjusting the clutch, and threading the master plunger rod toward the firewall to reduce the clutch throw. Try this, and see if the sound goes away, or if it becomes easier to shift into gear with the clutch pedal fully depressed.

If it becomes more difficult, try the other direction with the plunger rod.

If this doesn't help, or the noise becomes worse...please post your reply to the instructions after you have tried this first.

Then, we will be more capable of helping you with your problem.

Good luck,

Thank you for the quick reply, Let me clarify the problem a little more-
The scraping noise seems to start as soon as the pressure plate starts releasing the pressure from the flywheel. The noise starts about 1/2 to 3/4 of travel, and continues on through the rest of the clutch travel.
It does not seem to get any worse, the further the clutch is depressed.

Mmm-Kay, just got under the car, and tapped onto the Dust sheild for the bellhousing, this seems to be rubbing onto the flywheel. I had a problem installing it, and I think it got a little bent.
The question I have is why does it only rub when I push in the the clutch, the flywheel shouldn't move much when clutch pressure is applied. Right?
The motor has 155k on it, but i pulled the thrust bearing out and inspected it for damage, there was minimal wear, and the little wear that was there was good.
Looking back, I should have replaced all the main bearings when I had the block out.

The only reason why your flywheel would be moving is if your flywheel is loose, or if you are walking your crank.

More than likely, you have a failing throwout bearing.
