Talk about a run on sentance...Ever heard of punctuation?:notgood:

Ever heard of rules or spelling?
2. No insults, name calling, smart ass replies, or any other replies that violate our posting policies.

Check the timing, check oil pressure. Did you properly bleed the lifters or did you just try to put them back in. Use punctuation and proper grammer. This one will slide.

I agree check the timing.

To :SRT This: There's a report post to Moderators button, If you see a problem with a post it is appreciated that you use it. Lets all keep order on this site and that can all be handled solely by the Moderators, aside from viewers using the report button.

Even though i'm still considered just a "Newbie" I'd hafta agree with SRT this. Though, I do believe you went about it the wrong way. Instead of using an insult or being rude, try to direct him into the right direction and explain that if he DOES this, his reply count will go up. Besides thats what a moderator would say...And thats what I want for Christmas ;)

Man i must say that, that pararunon was very hard to read. I suggest using proper grammar and more people will want to reply.

As far as your problem, if its nothing in your head by checking under the valve cover. MY next step would be to remove the oil pan and make sure to pay attention to the oil as you drain it prior. If there are shaving.... dun dun dun. Look at the bearings and see if you can wiggle any of the rods back and forth and also pay attention to anything out of place(obviously).

I must be out of the "Loop" Wiggle the Rods? I must say that's a new bearing check to me.
Please post supporting information as to that being an accurate way of assessing a spun rod bearing.

And please to the original poster, Pulling the valve cover will not in any way show jumped timing. Please check it and get back to us.

Where is the knocking sound coming from? If it's from the head I would check for collapsed lifters, but if it's from the bottom end I would pull the pan and yank the rod caps to check for bearing damage. Looking at the oil and checking for glitter or brass shavings is always a good idea.

You can also diagnose rod knock in the following manner:

1. Have a friend rev the motor to the point at which the knock occurs
2. One at a time, remove one plug wire ( at the head) and replace it.
3. Do this for all four spark plugs

If the sound goes away when you remove a plug wire, it's very likely rod knock since the sound disappears when load is taken off of the piston. If the sound continues, it's either:

1. A collapsed lifter or something else in the valve train (loose rocker)
2. A broken crank pulley (harmonic balancer) beating itself on the timing cover
3. A failing auto tensioner
4. A loose baffle under the valve cover contacting the valvetrain

Trying to isolate the sound is your best bet. Systematically check things like the timing marks to make sure that everything's correct and then start with the simple things like looking for cracks in the harmonic balancer and then pulling the valve cover to check the lifters and rockers. Only after you've done the preliminary checks should you worry about the bottom end at which point you can try my little test or pull the oil pan.

Please keep us posted on your progress,

Andy

P.S. It's been said but I'll mention again that proper grammar and punctuation make it much easier for us to respond to your question.

Alright guys sorry about the punctuation. I was really tired when i wrote the forum. As for what you all are telling me, we checked the head and all that and it looks fine as far as the eye can tell. The timing was off a little so first thing in the morning we are going to take it all off and do it again. I will let you all know how that works out and thanks again for the help you all gave me.:dsm:

Timing being off, probably means bent valves.
I've had a cam lock up on me after a head rebuild (The head shop messed up) Put each piston half way up in the bore, then with the timing belt off make sure both cams spin freely.

Alright ill make sure i do that tomorrow when i take it all apart.

Alright guys i have great news, we did the timing again and we found out that the auto tensioner was bad. We replaced it and put it all back together. Got in and started it right up and she purred like a kitten!!!!!:thumb: So she runs again and im stoked my next goal is to put the t3t4 kit i have on it. Ill keep you guys up to date on whats going on with it.

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE HELP!!!

I support 1GCRAZY with him suggesting to do the wiggle test. It might not be the best result by hand and sight but with a feeler gauge you can measure side clearence and if the rod cap moves up and down by any noticeable amount there would be a problem being as there shouldn't much more bearing clearence then .003 thousandths (usually, that is not a specific number to our engine). Plastigage also works and takes maybe all of 5 minutes longer.:talon:
