Delete please ...bent valve stem was holding valve open.

Is this only a single cylinder that is losing compression? May I ask which one?

When you poured gas into the cylinder (I've personally never tried that method), did you rotate the crank to see if it would leak at a certain point during the cycle?

I also still believe we had some fun with my brother's 97 being one tooth off on the intake cam and having some compression issues.

what dose the head gasket surface look like?

were the HLAs bled down?

was the tip height of the valve checked?
 
Gonna put this back together tomorrow night, ill keep you informed. Going to Micrometer the cams and see how much material was taken off compared to stock and see if maybe we dont require the shims that came with the valves.
