Need help with cooling on a turbo diesel

Basically i wasnt sure where to post this but this seemed to be the best area. We have a new Chevy duromax diesel for pulling the horse trailer and it seems to have problems overheating when going up big hills... this is pulling like 12-16k pounds. So I am trying to apply some of my knowledge of DSM tuning to help. I figure getting rid of that stock box intake and getting an open filter would be a nice start. But as far as cooling the intake charge i was thinking about water injection. Any ideas as to if that would help. Like having it right after the intercooler to cool the air down more.

Lots of the diesel guys run propane injection -- it'll boost power, too.

But 12-16K? That's either a huge trailer, or you're pulling warmbloods. What kind of horses do you have? I've got an arabian filly and am buying a quarterhorse mare.

yeah its a big trailer.. basically the front of it is the living quarters.. bed , cooktop, fridge, freezer, shower, bathroom, sink, all that good stuff and the rear can hold 4 horses. Fully loaded its heavy as all hell. And we have 9 Arabians. Anywho, ill keep searching on how to tow this damn thing without overheating up hills .
