Solution
Just to make sure you found the correct spot. Here's mine (on my 99 GST) in it's special factory bracket bolted to the intake manifold just behind the fuel rail.

Solution
On a side note, I installed a 4g63 ignition system on my buddies turbo 420a engine the other day, he had a coil failure on fathers day miles from home, AAA could not provide a tow truck for us due to high demand so we had to pay $350 plus tax to have that car towed less than 20 miles, he had lost spark on 1 and 4, we suspected the coil and he had an MSD red coil that he installed a few months ago, we got a ride to his house and grabbed his stock coil, installed it and still no spark on 1 and 4, apparently both coils had failed OR his bad MSD coil cooked his module, I slept on it over night and decided to try upgrading it to the much more potent 4g63 system, it worked like a charm.
