need help removing cat

anyone got any hints on how to remove the cat? i just learned my talon still has the original cat on it... iv hit the bolts with pb blaster, wd40, liquid wrench, and neither me or any of my buddies can get the dang things to break loose. any suggestions???

take the exhaust off or get the car high enough and cut the bolts off with a angle grinder or saw zaw. then get new hardware to go with what ever you are putting in its place.

Heat the bolts up with a propane torch, and give them a good whack with a breaker bar. Usualy does the trick for me.

You could just take it to an exhaust shop and give them the new cat you purchaced and have them take out the old one, flange the new one and install it.

I had to cut off my bolts and drill the holes out for my catback. If you go that route buy good drill bits. I broke like 5.

Just take it to a "cool" exhaust shop. Most shops wont do it because it may be illegal depending on where you live to remove the cat. But if you know someone you can usually get it removed .

It will make your car faster if you remove it too

Exhaust shops can take it off as that isn't illegal and they can even make a test pipe for you. However they cannot allow you to leave with a removed working CAT.

got the cat off, ran about 80 miles to college and back(round trip) was there for about 5 minutes, got home and yanked on that B**** and it popped off... hollowed it out, the inside was seriously broken up and it had a black goo in it WTF , the motor blew up and was replaced b4 i bought it, but the cat was never changed , soo yeaaa. NOTICIBLE PERFORMANCE INCREASE
