My Eclipse failed the emissions test(p0455 EVAP Gross Leak), so i took it to a mechanic and he said that there diagnostics couldn't find anything and he would have to drop the tank and he also said that once you replace one part under there you'll end up replacing many others. I've tryed reseting the code, and i've looked over all the hoses and dont see any worn out ones. Im going to replace my gas cap but i passed that test at the emissions joint.
Anyways someones got to know how to pass this freakin test enlighten me Please!!! my plates expired and just moved to a county were you have to pass and my permit is almost up to pass. I DONT CARE HOW BUT I GOT TO PASS SOMEHOW SOON! haha help me out here thanks!

The other day I went to fill up and i noticed that i had a bad gas leak from above the rear axle. So we thought it had to be the filler neck that was leaking so we took off the plastic guard under the wheelwell to find a completely rusted out filler neck and EVAP line. I HATE RUST! haha the evap line was missing like 6 inches of the pipe I would consider that a gross leak. So we used the sawzall to cut the rusty pipes(If you try this dont go to fast you might create sparks that might end up in the gas tank). Then found the same sizes of rubber hoses and clamped them to the existing pipes, and i no longer had a gas leak or a gross leak in the evap and I passed emissions and I'm legal finally haha.
