I went for to get my GSX inspected today and failed...I was hoping anyone has some tips. I have one suggestion but im not sure how to go about it; We put Alcohol in my Step-dad's truck (inspector suggested it) to pass and it worked(this was done 2yrs ago). BUT im not sure how much to put in my car and if it would work. BTW i have 1/4 a tank of gas.

Buy1-2 quarts of denatured alcohol from your local hardware store
Run your tank down anywhere from 1/4 tank to the E line depending on how gutsy you feel or how badly your car passed emissions last time.
Throw the bottle of denatured alcohol into your tank.
Warm up the car and drive it immediately to your emissions place.
Either run down your tank or siphon out the rest of the fuel
Fill up a FULL tank to dillute any denatured alcohol thats left.

i knew you use alot but i googled it just to make sure and i was right=)

put a gallon of e85 in there and it will pass... a local guy sold his e85 powered 1g and the kid that bought it took it to have it smogged and the tech told, after running the tail pipe test, to,"get this car out of here, i dont kow what you did but theres no way its legal, it tested cleaner then a prius" LOL

also i have a friend that know someone with a smog shop and he tested his e85 powered EVO tuned @ 400hp and it passed a tail pipe test they did just for fun

LOL that's funny. I also recommend e85, put a couple gallons in, it won't hurt it at all just stay off the boost until you fill it back up with gasoline.

well i was going tommorow afternoon, I bought 2 quarts of isopropyl Alcohol and was going to add it to about 1/4 tank. I get one more test for the $40 i paid, Should i buy E85 or should this do the trick. I posted the results in first post but i dont know what any of it means...

Actually, he could do boost with E85 since the octane of E85 is higher (105 to 112) than 91-93 gas premimum.

Just the power won't be there due to the lower flame temperature BTU's of E85 compared to the higher BTU output of regular premium.

..and good luck with the isoprop alcohol trick ... - DSM

he could do boost, huh?

wow i think you shouldn't talk about things you know nothing about. the OP would definitely damage his engine if he listens to your suggestion. the reason we say stay out of boost is it takes 30% more E85 to make a stoich mixture so he would need 560cc injectors just to be even close to running stock boost levels.

and as far a power levels i have been running E85 for 2-3 weeks now and my car has never had more power.

to the OP no matter what "additive" you put in you should stay out off boost till you empty that tank and fill up again or you will blow your motor

i will stay out of boost for sure. the shop is literally across the street and a gas station 2 blocks down. kinda busy but this should get done within a few hrs.

Still didnt pass. got worse results, I had 1/4 tank max (3-3.5Gal) and added 2 qts of alcohol. Exaust smelled clean. Still wasn't enough, I was told to reset my ready codes or something, so he could do the test the way he is supposed too. And i may have a chance to pass.....Mitsu said drive 60mph for 20 min or so then attempt test.

I'd get that tank down to where the fuel light comes on and stays on steady, then you know that you definitely got a better chance for the E85 to work for you.

Then, add two gallons of E85 and drive it slow and easy for a while so the system can remap itself to the fuel change.

It might get a bit grumpy on occasion after putting the E85 in is why you only put that little of fuel in the system. Then, after you pass, then fill with what grade you use so the system can remap back to the original settings.
