Need help on 2G Crower cam install! "brain fart"

I'm wanting to install my BC 280 cams on my new motor, but i am having a hard time remembering how to do this when the timing belt is off.Cant i just drop them in and bolt them down and still be able to get the timing marks on the cam gears to line up with out damaging valves?! Maybe im just not thinking this through. But better safe than sorry

Install them with #1 at TDC and drop them in with the timing marks lined up.

Putting #1 at TDC is not going to damage any valves seeing there is no timing belt to sync everything together?

Basically, time up the car without the belt and install the cams.
